You all seem to be forgetting two things:

1. This guy is called Thunder
2. XP is just another way for Bill G. to squeeze more money out of the suckers who buy it. I will stick with 98 until it falls apart around me, and then switch to Linux!

MICROSOFT = ****.

(By the way, XP Home and Pro are identical apart from the loading bar colour, and some dumbass security crap to do with business users i.e. admin/limited user stuff. Home Ed. is also lots cheaper, so it's better - less money going to that freak Gates :ick )

To be honest I don't care much for the whole pro/anti Microsoft arguement untill it directly affects me. If the software provided is good and works well (and indeed, doesn't cost the Earth) then I'll be happy.

I can pick up Home for about £60... is that good enough? I mean it's not much money all things considered... and it's the full and legal version of the software.

That sounds about right to me - given that with 1£ you could get about AUD$3, that's comparable to the prices you can get here in Australia (yours are $20-50 cheaper or so).

Home is not good enough. Argue all you want about whether Home has all the features of Pro, just disabled, etc etc, but when it comes down to it, get Pro if you insist on XP. And if you insist on Home, be smart about it: before you go and buy it, check it out some other way on your comp so you know you'll be ok with it. Read up on tech-savvy comparisons between the two, and make your descision. But please, don't go commit yourself to XP Home blindly! :shaking:

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. Fair enough, I'm certainly still inclined to go with Pro - now I just need to find it on the cheap :)

Guys, you know what the difference is between a legit copy of XP and a bootleg copy?  The green certificate of authenticity on the front of the manual which has your license and whatnot.  Just buy a license and your warezed copy will become a legit copy.

Anyways, the biggest difference between Pro and Home is that Pro supports dual processor systems. :)
Gargoyles, Season 1.  Buy it, or DIE! :)

Yes, but who has a dual processor system? Anyway, it doesn't support it that well.

Several people do actually.  I'm saving up for a dual AMD box myself.

ROFLMAO!

Dude, sounds like you should start considering whether some of your computer's components are just slightly screwed up. I can understand ME/95 going bonkers, but 2k? Nahh.

£115 for XP Pro. Around £100 less than I previously have ever found it for. Good?
