This is my GTF Harpy fighter, the first fighter I made.

Some of you may have seen this before, when I was using TS2

Now using TS3.2, and boy is cubic UV mapping a bouns;)

This last one has a little extra bonus: my remodelled hornet missile!

And some people said they would never show up... :rolleyes: Oh heck did I really type that out loud.....:nervous:

BTW the fighter is, acording to modelview, 20 m long.

She's meant to be a fast, agile dogfighter.  Light weaponry, but very tough for her size.  Intended to beat Mara's 1 on 1, or even 2 on 1 against.

I like the shape a lot (especially the missle bays). Get some nice textures on it and you've got a ship that will look pretty good in the game.

I'll admit, it needs a little more work on the mesh.  There's a hole behind the right engine glow, so I need to fix that.  At the same time, I may remake the engine pods.

Now I've got to figure out how to create submodels, and how to lithunwarp....

Okay, this is worrying.......we now have a Harpy and Phoenix in the FS2 universe.........there's a Harpy and Phoenix in The Swarm War too........:nervous:

:rolleyes: Do you have any idea how common those names are? The first FS mod I ever downloaded was the GTB Phoenix (for FS1 I believe) and I have seen at least three others since then (probably more). We have a Harpy gunship in Twisted Infinities, and no doubt several other mods have the same.

They're very common names. I doubt eeither of you will be accused of stealling  them from the other.

Tell me about it.  :V: took most of the good names for Terran craft.:(

What ones can I think of?

Harpy, Phoenix, Icarus, Hydra(more a Shivan one though), Thor, (Roman names for Greek gods), er.....

runs out of steam

I'm Using Harpy for this, Icarus for my uber fighter based on the Athena, and Thor for Aldo's Orc cruiser.

And I'm taking Saturn and Mars for my own designs!:mad2:

yeah, Max sterling made a strange looking GTF phoenix ( with a ring wing IIRC ), and I have a SF harpy.

idea!

we should have a page regrouping all the user made ships with a pic and the name :D ( of course that can't alway be possible, there's sme ships sme people might keep secret for a reason or another ). I don't mean where you can d/l them, just where you can see what exists and what doesn't, etc.

That's a promising model you've got there, Raptor!  Just get some nifty textures on it and it'll be pretty sweet in-game. I suggest some light greys with dark blue/black markings, and a big logo on the tail.:)

I'll see what happens at some point.  This is a sort of 'beta' release.  Mu first try with TS3.2

Current thoughts:

Re-design the wingtip engine pods.  The wings were meant to narrow as they got closer to the end.

Build up the belly.  That belly gun is intended to mount mission persific weaponry, like the SDG or Maxim.  Currently the maxim bolt clips though the hull:doubt:

Also, tried using litilhunwrap.  Didn't really work.  Should I use it on DXF, COB or POF format models?  A instruction manual would be a real help.

Then there's the little thing of submodels.....:rolleyes:

Nice shape, but try to compact it more (i.e: smaller, space fighters aren't as long or wide as Earth ones ;))
Also, like has been noticed, the textures need more work :D

Well, I based the design on Aldo's Claymore Mk 1, and it was meant to be ~15m long, only it looked a little silly, so I increased the size a bit.
