It depends on the specs of your current computer, of course. :nod:

Not sure about the graphics, but the rest looks very respectable on the modern rung of comptuers!

  • Away in RL land. Back later.
Try getting the PRO version of the vid card, if possible. As vyper said, get the 9700 if you can.

flat panel monitors suck, and for the same price instead of getting a ****ty POS 15" (TFT) you can get a really nice  19" CRT

Flat Panels = Slow Refresh, Low color capabilities (equiv to about 16 bit color), break easily

Break easily... Hmm... But CRT monitors are bulky and much easier to drop... Then they break too ^_^ Not to mention the radiation CRTs give out. Pity I can't actually afford a TFT :( Also, remember that a size of a TFT is actually the equivalent of the next size up in CRT, as all of a TFT's display is viewable.
You can't really talk about refresh rates on TFT monitors, as so long as they're on a DVI connection (or an analogue with a converter thingie, I suppose) they shouldn't have a refresh rate, since they don't scan. However, there is noticeable ghosting as pixels take time to change colour, but this has been getting a lot better recently.

radiation that CRTs put out.. ROTFLMFAO!  You've been reading too many babblingly idiots

refresh rate != scan rate

refresh rate is the rate at which it actually responds to changes in the singal which the video card is sending - and flat panels are disgustingly slow - and they have the ~16-bit color depth **** going on

RAMBUS = teh suck

the BEST RAMBUS: 2byte (16bit) * 400mhz = 762.9 megabytes per second
average DDR (PC2100 aka DDR266) = 16byte (128bit) * 133mhz * 2 = 3.9 Gigabytes per second

I may have left one part out of the rambus eqausion because the number looks too low even for rambus -- but even when i remembered the correct exact numbers rambus still blew goats - why do you think intel chipsets are switching to DDR

Actually thats quite wrong. RAMBUS is a much higher quality memory than DDR it is just that it is expensive.
