Okay, so I'm still pretty new around here and hence I probably shouldn't be levelling major criticisms at anyone just yet, but I've gotta say this site - for the size of its community - has got to have the slowest news I've ever seen. Alright, I'll concede that the main game you cover is 4 or 5 years old by now, so naturally there'll have been no official news about FS2 for quite some time now. But I'm sure there's something you can do, just to keep the news page from being completely stagnant and breeding mosquito larvae...

I thought maybe you could do something powered by the community, since it's so huge. The main 3DAP site, for example, uses all the news from its hosted network. Your hosted network seems just as slow in official news as its main hub, though, so that doesn't automatically work.

However, you still have teeming forums, and your hosted projects are definitely working behind the scenes. You could get people to sensibly post their own news. I gather that most people don't visit all the hosted forums... this would be a good way to improve cross-forum traffic.

Get people to send their news items to whoever your newshound is (Windrunner, I think his name is?), and all he has to do is some minor formatting and then post the thing up. I think it'd work.

Anyway, just a suggestion.

Beats me why they don't hire someone with no social life purely to keep the main page up to date. Windrunner is supposed to do all that, but the's also got other stuff to keep up with, both here and (presumably) in RL.

I think back in the day when there were 3 main admins and they weren't all wrapped up in somebody's huge friggin' project, they had time to take care of the page. Those days are gone now, apparently, and at any rate it's not like there's just ****loads of real news coming through here nowadays.

I have to agree with stryke. its not like there is a lot of news to post about. I just can't post irrelevant news, i have to find news that fits with what we do. And there is another matter RL. I am studing at college and that takes most of time right now.

Besides HLP is more up to date with news than any other Freespace site.

..which is exactly all the stuff we'd liek to hear about. That's more or less why most of us are here.

or at least stuff like when people finish 1337 models (like your cruiser or styxx's) or the mod database goes up, etc.

NW:GA? Foxfire Chronicles? FS Open 3.6 planning? Gargant V2? Bakha Stealth Bomber Reskin? It doesn't have to be earth-moving, it's gotta be better than having a stagnant news page. Anyway, like I said, just an idea. But I did think it through.
