"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

i hate to pick holes in SW, but how long did the Death star II take to build? i mean it was obviously started after the battle of Yavin, but Damn they musta used a helluva lot of labor to get that thing up to spec in such a short period of time

Taken from Starwars.com:

Death Star: Height: 120 kilometers in diameter

Death Star II: Height: 160 kilometers in diameter

"Within three years of the Death Star's demise, the Galactic Empire again proved its evil nature with the construction of a second Death Star in a remote region of space"

I guess that Darth Vadar are good at "motivating" his men.

More to the point why did it take them so long to build the first one? They show them having the specs for it in AotC!

As for Lexx it's got a really weird original storyline and naked girls. What more could you want?

I  think he based his DS2 size off the horizon measurement that people did when the SSD Executor crashed into the DS2 hull - the curvature of the horizon (or lack thereof - I forget) made the supposed 160km diameter waaaay too small IIRC.

Well, the Empire did have the resources of an entire galaxy to draw on.

Does anyone know why the hell Sanathanas is in the website?
