First, which one? Second, I have no idea, but you can go a to a gun shop in the UK and buy a plain black or silver airgun. They only need the coloured bits on them if they're being posted. [EDIT] Here's a link. Enjoy.

But there was no need to judge me by age, or indeed tell me to shut up.

I think what he meant was that in a few more years you'll be in a better position to judge such matters. Having said that, he may have just wanted you to shut up *shrugs*

Maybe I misheard and it's just one of those things that the government will bring in 'some time in the future'. Oh well. It's pretty stupid though, whenever it's going to be enforced.

So you were wrong about the gun thing - is it then possible you were wrong about the woman thing?

It is impossible to be wrong (or, for that matter, right) in a subject involving generalisations.

All methane gases are toxic.

All fire is hot.

All matter can neither be created nor destroyed.

OK, I'm giving up there cos this is rapidly turning in to really bad amateur philosphy. Nice defense though, I'll have to try it on ZB one day.

'Hot' is an expression of sense. Maybe the sense of heat would be different to an organism living in fire?

Well... Bah. I'll amend my argument: "It is very, very difficult to be proven right or wrong in an argument regarding generalisations of social behaviours in living organisms".
"All generalisations are false" (god-damn paradoxes)

EDIT: Now with more cheesy counter-arguments (tm)

So back to men and women then: from observation of my friends I have determined that there is only one real difference between men and women - If I pass wind (as they say in polite society), women look offended while men give a score out of ten

I've never given and/or recieved a score out of 10 for a fart... :p
So you don't count physical characteristics as differences?

Well, there are no absolute rights or wrongs. You can't say "ALL women/men are sexist", naturally. But what you CAN do is identify traits of the statistical majority. You're far more likely to find a woman with a bone to pick with those damn pigs- or a guy who likes to occasionally make fun of those lousy broads- than you are to find one who doesn't mind the other sex at all, or respects them entirely. It's a societal thing, and hence a self-sustaining trend. Never mind that bigotry and discrimination are pretty much normal states for people, since we evidently gotta build up our egos by comparing ourselves to others. Anywhere you go, you're gonna find people who dislike other people, think they're weak/stupid/jerks/whatever, based largely on how they were born and what they believe in. The crowning problem of modern society is our failure to recognize this and deal with it, rather than stick our heads in the sand about it.

Men can have tits too... If they're really fat'n'all that. But anyway, there are still plenty of other physical differences that have to be taken into account ^_^

Nicely put. It could also be noted that females often insult males primarily for the purpose of seeing the reaction. Males often insult females to both see the reaction, and have the reaction better their imaginary sense of how high up in the pecking order they are.
And in relation to the rest of your post, it's not just a crowning problem of modern society, it's a crowning problem of any human society, and, I'd be willing to bet, a lot of other sentient societies as well.

Not really. Most societies before this one were insular and monochrome enough that they were perfectly fine with it. There's no problem with, say, racism, if all the blacks, asians, whatever, aren't in your society, and thus of secondary interest at best. Globalization kills the local mind.

No problem with racism, sure, but certain birth abnormalities and suchlike would render certain people 'different', within one race. i.e. Siamese twins, only 4 fingers to a hand, left handedness, stuff like that

Only a problem for those people. The rest of society had great fun making them live in the gutters, throwing stuff at them, burning them as witches, etc.

Nowadays we're so neurotic we do that ****, and then want to make sure we haven't hurt their feelings.

Only a problem for the individual and the discerning onlooker. And the rest of the society could still have been possibly doing it to 'big up themselves' (e.g. "look at me, I'm what society defines as normal!").
I doubt soldiers who shot at iraqis cared about their target's feelings.
