Stealth Pistol + Sword + Sneaking about like a sneaky thing = lotsa dead bad guys.

Stryke: The sword is one of the most powerful weapons in the game. It's excellent for killing those Men-In-Black robot guys - you sneak around, then run up to him, smack him in the face with it, then leg it before he explodes. It kills nearly all enemies in one or two hits, and you can't run out of ammo!

All you need is that, the stealth pistol, and maybe the sniper rifle, and you're sorted (the wristbow with tranqs and a scope is useful as well, but not vital). Then all you need is a GEP gun or a stack of LAWs to deal with the sentry and battle droids. Sorted! :)

MiB you can waste with a couple clean shots to the head. Or get them with the tranq crossbow and finish 'em off with a sniper shot after backing off and letting them chase you for a bit, you never have to get in nanosword/flamethrower range.

And battle bots? You just run like hell, they're easy to avoid and next to impossible to kill. I've expended my entire stock of GEP gun ammo at those things and never seen them flinch.;)

Set an MiB on fire, and he burns for ****ing ages. Whilst screaming.

Yeah, the MIB is very strong compared to the other guys. He looks really funny when running though since he waves his arms all over the place; for example, the guy with the assault rifle in the MJ12 pacific rim lab area (he is standing near the electrical spark things) only has a single clip and no other weapon, so he just starts running away after using that up.

Dunno about that. Hit the gaggle of MIB in the 'Ton with a WP rocket (at extremely close range, I'm surprised I survived) and they lasted about a second before going pop. Somehow, I also got an assault shotgun outta the deal- one of 'em must have dropped it before exploding for some reason.

A WP rocket, yeah. Just lick 'em with your flame thrower, that does the trick :)

Question - do you try and save Paul, and how often do you pull it off?

No room for the flamethrower, and the GEP gun's so much more fun. And useful. Take on a mech with sabot rounds, yeah, go ahead, meatloaf.

And, ah... well, I tried in that after ducking out the window I changed my mind and went back, but he'd dissapeared by then, and instead I had a meeting with said Men in Black. So I guess I'm gonna have to replay the game yet again.

I think I managed to save paul, but I don't know how. I sort of just blasted all the MiB and Unatco, as for some reason I had an assault shotgun.

I decided once that I was gonna save Paul and it was suprisingly hard. I had to plant a gas grenade out in the corridor before the action started, then when the door blew chuck a LAM to detonate it. After that, I bounced one off the wall one way, another the other to take out the MiB's. Then I had to rush the sniper and take him out, and then bombarded the foyer with gas grenades and a few LAM's before Paul could run down there and get his arse shot off. After that just picked off the remaining guys with the Sniper Rifle.
I don't know what you mean about the battle bots (if you mean the big stompy ones) cause you an take them out with one GEP round (at least I did on realistic).

Maybe Realistic's different. Dunno. I used at least four on one in medium and it just kinda sat there. It was the one in the MJ12 base under UNATCO, and I'd already shut it off, so maybe it was set up for invulnerability or something.

Yeah, I'm sure it only takes one 'cause I remember on the first level going to the ocean labs (after you rescue savages daughter) destroying the one patroling around the base from where you start with a single GEP rocket. Also only takes one LAW shot as well- I used that where you just said.

The big mechs take more than one GEP round to knock off, and I think even two LAW rounds - that said, you weren't hitting them with WP rounds by mistake, were you?

Anyway, another I'd like in DX2 - the awful accents. They were fantastic. The two australian birds outside the Lucky Money had me in stitches, and I never did work out exactly why Gordon Quick was so amusing to listen to :)

I agree with you on this one mate! Also let's see some proper dodgy euro accents like in Giants... the Meccs are classic! (Though personally I want a proper West Country accent. Now THAT would be good;))

As for the other, I KNOW I took out that bloody mech with one LAW, but the more I think about it the less certain I am about the GEP- it might have been two.

I demand to have all sorts of accents in DX2.

A west country one, as you say, would be good.

"ooo, arr, now I werrk forrr thee Illoominarti!

:shaking: :shaking: :shaking:

Scary...so scary....:shaking:

A thing I've noticed (nothing to do with DX2 whatsoever, but hey...) is that pirates all have a terrible west country accent:

"Arr, get off moi laaand, or yee'll waark the plank!" Etc, etc.

Yeah, I know - I've got far too much time on my hands. Please don't shout at me... :nervous:

What kind of crappy pirate has land? And even if they did, what kind of crappy pirate would give you warning before nailing some unpleasant part of your body to the door (well, they've got land, they must be house pirates) as warning?

The accents for the Chinese triad guys were particularly funny. "Are you caurring me a ria?" :D

I think I heard somewhere that one of DX2's locations is somewhere in India; the voices there should come out quite funny too... :D (been there several times in real life and all the accents sound pretty strange :D)

It depends on your skill level with heavy weapons. If you are a master then one is enough, but if you are untrained it takes three or so; might be dependent on the difficulty chosen at the beginning of the game as well.

As for saving Paul, there are actually two ways to do it: either kill everyone in the hotel or die while fighting in there (yes, you can actually die there and still continue the game; maybe they put you back together or something). If you leave the hotel before killing all the UNATCO guys inside, he dies. However, he is actually set up to be invulnerable in that mission and runs around like a madman while fighting, so you can just let the MIBs come in and go hide in the bathroom or something while he does all the work. When he has taken care of the initial wave, step outside the door into the hallway, which causes him to run out and go beat up everyone else.

This Paul Denton/UNATCO fight is the ultimate comedy scene though, the best I have seen in any game; there are an incredible number of crazy things that can be done here. :D

You know what I hate? Spider bots. Evil little buggers.

Has anyone ever accessed the sub pen through the front door? I tried it once, only to get the smack laid down upon me by a gang of marines...

Which type? The little ones do get quite annoying because they are so fast and usually come in swarms, but sabot shells work well against them. The big ones suck since they are much slower and have the same weapon but they are very rare anyway (only three of them in the entire game).

That is the way I always go in; as long as you take out the military bots from long range you should be okay (lots of troops inside but you don't have to fight most of them). Do you take the underwater entrance or something?

Ever played NOLF2? That has some quite hilarious accents in it.

You set a Hindu guard alight and he runs around screaming "What horrible agony"
