:wtf:

Eh? Max Payne works fine on XP and 98 - for me, anyway. What problems did you have? If it was what I had, I know a handy little trick...

I have a hideously complex system of computers in my house:

My PC: XP home, not connected to the net.
My dad's PC: XP Home, connected, with IE 6.
My Mum's iMac: OS9.1, IE5 for Mac, connected.

This means I have to download stuff on one of my parents' comps, stick them onto a floppy or CDRW, leg it upstairs, and stick it on my machine to use it. Vice versa for emailing stuff to people: onto a floppy disk or five, back downstairs, onto my dad's pc and do it from there. Four words: PAIN. IN. THE. ARSE. Keeps me fit, though (my room's on the third floor of the house - lots of stairs).

If I can persuade my dad to shell out for broadband, I'll buy a router and get myself connected. Otherwise, I'll be doing a lot more running about...
Any fool can pull a trigger...

On Linux, 1.3 wasn't too bad (for Mozilla that is...), it natively supported Xft anti-aliasing (1.2 had to be hacked to achieve the same result IIRC) which makes X's traditionally crappy font-rendering look half-decent. Browsing with it still went at roughly the same speed as a glacier though...

The large text indicates he's joking but given how backward and old-fashioned he is, I wouldn't put the masochism of DOS web browsing past him...

There are two DOS-based browsers that I'm aware of: DosLynx, which is a port of the *nix Lynx text browser and Arachne, which is a graphical browser.

Depending on how you access the net though, neither may be very practical. Arachne won't use the Windows TCP/IP stack (at least, not the last time I looked at it) and while it has it's own internal TCP/IP stack and dialler this would be useless if you have a LAN internet connection or a host-based modem (ie: a WinModem). I don't know if DOSLynx is any different.

um... it quits in the middle of loading a level. no errors, no nothings it just CTD's.

And Win98 has a nasty sound bug, with all sounds playing a pitch lower than they should.

SERIOUSLY...! | {The Sandvich Bar} - Rhino-FS2 Tutorial | CapShip Turret Upgrade | The Complete FS2 Ship List | System Background Package

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Lets see....

1. Stylesheet gets completely ****ed up for no reason whatsoever, requiring a cache clearing.
2. When you click on a link, and the site is still loading, it fubars up.
3. It takes FOREVER to load (30 seconds, compared to the 5 seconds 1.2.1 took to load).
4. Doesn't recognize e-mail from an older version of Mozilla. (and yes, I did back it up)

Need I go on?

Win98, IE 6, and sometimes Opera on one box and WinXP don't really use a browser 'cuz it doesn't have internet access :( on the other.
I have big plans, now if only I could see them through.
