Probably very, if you want the Pivoting guns, if not, what do you want? there is already mouse control.

I mean the cursor thinguy. the curret FS2 mouse control works like a FPS, you move the mouse a bit, the ship turns slighly.
In FL, you move the mouse, you have a cursor that moves away from your aiming reticle, the farther away, the faster the ship turns. That's what I'd like to have.

Well I was actually trying to spark off some interest from other people. I do actually quite like the idea, as the current mouse control is lame.

how about the point of drag mouse down to pull up, table ends, raise mouse in air, put mouse infront, drag it down again.

instead of drag mouse down spin as much as you want rotate up...... would help TVT players with the infernal pull up VS joy and DIE problem:ha: :doubt:

If you want to keep asking the question, what's wrong with what's there?, you're going to end up with the fact that there's nothing fundamentally wrong with FreeSpace 2 as-is. In that case, why bother with the SCP at all? I get the impression that it's because we want to expand the possibilities and scope of what's already present. A new control interface would fit under that. :)

Ahh. Now you mention it, I had the same problem.

be fair, Kazan, the mouse in FL is quite good, as it allows great accuracy, and the use of those pivoting guns. Although of course, this would be no use in FS, as there no pivoting guns.

I agree with Venom....FL's mouse control is far superior to any other space sim.  I'd still use the joystick but hey, if someone wants to code a mouse improvement that'd probably benefit lots of people.

still don't have freelancer, btw it is wing commander style? with a cursor moved by mouse and defining the maneuvre speed considering the offset from center?

Mouse control ala Freelancer
Yep, that's about right.

btw it could be easy or not to have the manuevre angle defined by an offset of a cursor from center (probably it would be easier to emulate the joystick control instead of changing the actual mouse control?), but i remember that in the first wingcommanders this control was far far more difficult than the last wingcommander(where it was excellent), i mean that probably you should have to make some tests on playability, to see if it is necessary to set a dead zone , if the offset function should be linear or not, etcetc
