Thankyou thankyou. I loved Turrican and i'm sad that few people here got to experience it because it is without doubt the BEST 2d Platform/shooter EVER. The music is still ingrained in my head and I could hum you the tune from any of the levels, I can even remember the song titles from some of them.

I guess that makes me a geek.

Also the one with the single funniest scene. There is a bit on one of the paths that literally made me cry with laughter. It's the bit with Indy doing his shadow puppet routine. The problem is that IIRC it only occurs if you don't have all the items you need to solve the puzzle but try anyway so most people probably missed it.

I loved Another World too. I must have played it through about 5 or 6 times. I personally love the blast run where you're running through the tunnel as the doors are being blown up behind you :) I also loved the way you didn't make it home in the end but instead get carried off on the back of that weird flying creature thanks to the friendly alien :)

If you liked AW it might also be worth looking into Flashback and also Wasted Dreams.

Turrican was cool but Turrican II was better in my opinion. Last time I installed Deliplayer I had nothing but trouble with it but I'm still tempted to try again just so I can listen to all the music.

If we're talking Amiga games then I've got a huge list (which I won't bore you all with for now) but the forgotten classic I have to mention is Warhead. :)

I absolutely loved that game. Probably my favourite newtonian physics space combat sim of all time. You can see a lot of it in I-war which was (partly) written by the same guy.

there's also Dark Light ( ;7) Conflict. wasn't really newtonian, but the ship had a huge momentum. only got to play the demo, but I wish I could get my hands on the full game.

for another Another World-like, there's Dark Earth, made by the same guy.

This was another excellent game, and one I just played through a few days ago. Too bad the god machine at the end doesn't work though. :D

Is that the part in the hotel in Monte Carlo after Trottier runs away? Indy's nur-ab-sal figure looks like some kind of rabbit. :D I don't think you need to lack any items there to do that though; all you do is turn off the lights and then use the flashlight.

It was also funny when Indy locks Al-Jabbar in his own closet in the wits path, which causes him to completely blow his top.

I think the funniest bit was at the beginning when you are talking to that Biff doorman guy and start throwing insults at him. :D There are actually three ways to get into the theater and Sophia gives you a different fortune reading later on based on what you did here.

Another older game I really want to play is Beneath a Steel Sky. It works fine up to a certain point, but then the game just exits with some strange "resource not found" error. I tried downloading it from four different places and got the same thing with all of the copies, which is a pity since the game looked really good up to that point.

By Turrican I meant the whole series (three was upsettingly poor though) of course II was the best :) I think I have a copy of the .adf if you need it. Remember Gods? I don't think the Bitmap Brothers made a bad game.

I've already got a copy but thanks for the offer. Actually I still have my Amiga so I could always use that even if I didn't :)

Gods was good but if you're gonna mention the BB's you can't not mention Xenon 2 :D

Another game that deserves mention is Zeewolf/Zeewolf 2. I still get tempted to play both from time to time :)

Could never get past the halfway boss on the second stage of Xenon 2. That game was one of the only games that no one I knew could ever complete. I could never get Zeewolf 2 to work but I loved Zeewolf. But if there's one game that proves that gameplay is all that matters it has to be Speedball 2. If I'd have put as many hours into my education as I did into this game I'd be a millionaire by now :)

I love adventure games. Bah, all this 3D stuff... they got nothing on the gameplay of Keen. :)

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. [color=66ff00]Yeah flashback was good, I found another world to be a little too 'you must time everything to perfection or die' which frustrated me to the point where it just wasn't fun anymore. :sigh:

I forgot about bladerunner which I though was quite cool, I got decent scores on the shooting range too. :)

Starwing/fox for the snes is one of my personal favourites, real 'seat of your pants' game.
Kicker is good too, it's a real oldie, an arcade game. You can still get the ROM and run it on mame, it's a good laugh. :)

YEAH! I used to get stuck on disc 2, tho. I'd get to a point when wherever I went, there was my boss in a long coat and hat telling me to "go home and get some rest, McCoy", so i did, and nothing happened.

mmh... I remember him saying that, but I don't remember being stuck there.
altho there's one HUGE pb about that game: at the very begining, there's a tiny bullet shell to find on the first crime set ( the place where they sell animals ). it's damn hard to see, and if you miss it, well, you can't finish the game, you'll be stuck at one point or another.
that was quite stupid, even more since you can't go back to the place and pick it up later...

All adventures tend to have something like that.

Remember Phantasmagoria?
