what's hard to understand?  the whole last half hour dammit!  and don't say you weren't confused, especially at the part with Neo talking to the "architect"...

actually i found most of the storyline hard (somewhat) to understand... i guess when i see it a few more times it'll come into perspective.

my one gripe about the movie though:  that sex scene was waaayyyy too long.

Spoiler:
I wonder if Agent Smith is going to actually 'be' that 'survivor' that they found at the end of the movie... or if that 'survivor' will be himself... allows for a lot of speculation...

And, to be honest, I understood everything in that movie... believe it or not... don't see whats hard NOT to understand.

I just got back from it. I can't wait for the third one.

Spoiler:
The ending was a little disappointing, though. The prophecy is a lie and now we have some unknown guy on the next bed who is also in a coma state.

I wonder if those powers that Neo was demonstrating outside of the matrix is a little indication that he is also "The One" outside of the matrix.

With all the people dancing around in bullet time it had to last about that long.  :p

Speculation:[/b]

Spoiler:
Well, the guy on the bed isn't unknown... If my visual memory serves me right, that guy is the operator from the first movie, that betrayed Morpheus.
You also have to take into account the fact that Agent Smith copied himself on a person that was running away from him, and then picked up the phone and got transferred back onto the ship... Was that person he copied himself to that operator that betrayed Morpheus? (Remember, appearances aren't the same in the real world and the matrix)  Man, I _really_ want to see the third movie... Need to... too many mysteries to solve, such as the guy who was about to kill Neo in Zion... hmm...

Spoiler:
Joey- re the reason his powers work on the outside: A lot of people are figuring there's a nested matrix model going on from what the Architect said. In other words, the "reality" is another simulation, and that the real reality is something else altogether. If this is what the producers have in mind, they're almost undoubtedly going to go the formulaic route and make our reality the REAL reality, or at least the one outside the wasteland (itself a simulation inside something else, ad nauseam). It's clever, the only problem is it's been done five bajillion times.

Out of curiosity- why are we bothering with the spoilers tag, rather than putting a spoilers warning in the title and writing so that we don't have to do all this highlighting and piecing together? Who's gonna be coming in here who either hasn't seen the movie or is planning to and doesn't want to know about it? Are we worrying about the resident HLP retard population?

I agree Stryke 9.

I give the film as a whole a 7/10 because it doesn't have the same vibe as the first.

The Good - The story, there's a lot of characterization in this movie.  If you have a problem sitting through dialog wait till it come out on video cause there's not a whole lot of action in the first hour,  but after that ;7 .

The Bad - The total overuse of bullet time and some of the full-body CG looks a little ... "plastic".

The Ugly - The twins spectral faces :eek2:

Now for the specific critique
Spoiler:

I don't know about the rest of you but, did that "orgy" scene have any pertinence to continuity?  Or the Neo/Trinity interlude?  They could have left that out and got a PG-13 rating which would increase the overall audience size by several factors at least and not have sacrficed story at all.

There are ways to suggest that Neo and Trinity had sex and then cut in afterward for their conversation.  The whole "orgy" thing was a waste of film too.  I could have lived without having Zion look like a debauched version of a glorified apartment building.

On other fronts:

There's lots of good Nebacudnezzar shots in it, the ship is slick.

I was disappointed in the power level that Neo possessed.  The way Morpheus talked in the first one, I thought Neo was going to have near God-like power of creation and destruction.  Granted he's powerful but I would have liked some glowy bits or an aura of power(Goku anybody?) when he was threw the Smiths off him.

To all who care: the guy that Smith subverted is the same guy that tried to kill Neo and then was the only survivor of the rout who is lying comatose on the bed opposite Neo at the end.

God this movie ruled.

And I think what stryke said, matrix outside a matrix

And the sex=dance=orgy seen didn't stop... Counted so many nipples..

I don't know why it was in the movie really. It doesn't go with the story and as said, only raises the rating.

Because it's sex. 2/3 of the Matrix's hardcore fans are no-life dweebs who enjoy two things in this world:

1. Pretending they're not in it.

and

2. Fapping off.

See how the new Matrix provides for both of those needs? It's the perfect nerd entertainment. Just move in a hurry if the guy sitting behind you starts breathing heavily during the sex scene.

At least I'm glad I'm in the other 1/3... :D

First of all learn how to spell.
Oracle...well she isn't actually evil. She might just be telling the truth. Well Smith is totally evil, the architect is really a mind killer. CP is a small fish compared to this one. But well Neo has too much power (like pulling things to himself, hmmm..The force?...or reviving dead people). How can he fly and burn everything behind him and not burn up himself? And of course, the sex scene (N/T) is really sick I must say. This is just an overdrive. :ick
Overall, action is awesome, effects are fantastic, overall, the film is a complete brain meltdown.

Well, some of the stuff I understood, some of it I didn't but overall, I could have been a lot happier with this film. Firstly, it didn't have as much of the cool cinematography and hell cool camera anles that the Matrix had - this one was shot more like a typical action movie, and unlike the Matrix itself, pretty much was a typical action movie. Apart from a few scenes, there wasn't as much thought required in this one.

I also got the feeling that this one was sort of tacked on - I know it wasn't, since they've always said they'd planned to do 3 movies, but that's just howw it felt to me. Plus Morpheus and Trinity both semi successfully taking on agents... I dunno about that'n.

That said, there were some good parts. We got to have a look into the deeper parts of the Matrix, and into the society of the machines. As for the sex/party scene there was a reason for it. IMO, it was designed to to contrast the machines ith humans - unlike the precise, crisp and clean machine existences, this was earthy and human - very different.

Agreed, Smith is going to copy himself over the Architect and then remake the matrix in his image.

okay, it was good. but it was also a little dissappointing.

and that guy on that other bed was Bane. At least I think that was his name. One of the guys that came with the message from the oracle (thus, quite likely Smith).

and, uh... too much morpheus, too little neo.
and the architect thing wasn't that hard to get.

the only thing that was even remotely hard to follow was when things started getting cut in that non-liniar format (when they were showing a scene from them planing the atack then showed them doing that part of the atack, then go back to the planning ect...)

Spoiler:

I liked it overall

Whats with almost everyone being black? I dont think I saw 5 white people in Zion?

The action scenes rocked. I liked how they dont just agents now, but rouge programs too, like the Keymaker, the Oracle and the Merovignian. I sort of dont get how it all fits into the bigger picture, but I'm kinda expecting it to be explained in the third movie, and not just "how are we going to solve this without continuity errors", since it was planned as a trilogy.

Yes, the guy who they found as a survivor is the guy who Smith infected, hes the inside man working to kill Neo. It appears he's the one who caused the problem in the defences and resulted in
Zion going down.

About Neo, I dont quite understand his role anymore. I dont really understand the "this has happened before, no choice" stuff. As for Neo's powers outside the Matrix, well I dont understand them either. Or the Oracle. Or the prophecy. Or Smith. But again, thats why I'm going to watch the third movie, and hope that its all part of a big explanation that fits, and not just shoehorned on to make it fit.
