You know how many months ago I won gamer snap, and anoyyed you all with the fact that the prize was a Radeon9700?

Well, I still haven't recieved it, but I've just got word from Ross Atherton at PCG that it has now been upgraded to a 9800, and I'll have it within 10 days at the most!

I am understandably happy, but this will probably ruin my exam results.

I believe Razor is referring to the performance hit of a 256mb 9800 over a 128mb 9700. Memory allocation for that kind of volume is a task not to be taken lightly, and so the 128mb versions of the cards currently run faster. Slightly. However, for more modern games that use tons of textures, and all that ****, the 256 will eventually win out because of storage issues. It may be marginally slower now, but it's helluva future-proofed.
Even with that though, I expect all 9800s would be faster. Razor, what are your sources?

Well, I'm getting a.... (drumroll) Geforce FX 5900 Ultra!

Why? Because I didn't really win it. But I got the chance to try it out and buy it for half the price. 256MB ram too, and they say its finally taken the crown as fastest card out there, beating the Radeon 9800. So I cant complain, not paying full price, so I'm happy.
