Anyone have any experience in making Techroom animations? The best way i can think of is getting frame by frame from modelview to Flash, and then exporting as an AVI or something to use in-game...

however, that doens't allow for the little "flash" at the start. how do you pros do it? what programs and methods do you use?

3ds max. Simple as that. Make a wireframe, apply a slice modifier, add a textured version, also add slice to that, make a wireframe grid, animate.

Lightwave is just as easy to do it...
and you can render each frame as an individual image so anibuild can just convert it...
I think MAX can do the same, not sure how though...

Lightwave is a frickin expensive program that was used to do the CGI scenes for Babylon 5.

Among other things, like Pearl Harbour, DS9..
its by far the cheapest of the "Big Name" programs..

expensive, eh? Like relative to what? If it's more expensive to Photoshop, then screw it. if it's less expensive than Photoshop, then screw it too.

Ever seen Babylon 5? They aren't joking when they say it was made on Lightwave (although all the models were made on the Amiga version which was better in those days)
