About the banning and the an0n and stuff... what's with that? How the HELL is he gonna be my lackey if he isn't even around? Who will I give orders to and use as my puppet in my plot to take over Node War, and from there northwestern Canada? Huh?

Like I said. He told Thundra Khadaffi or whatever he's calling himself this week to fuck himself, and stated some opinions that broke the mood in one of the threads. I could see the getting pissed off, but more than a temp ban seems more than a little excessive to me. Particuarly because he only basically beat me to it, though I think I would have said it slightly differently.

But he has proven my point of how the lack of compassion (and other basic human social emotions) is a evolutionary flaw that leads to people not liking you and making you life harder than it has to be.

I will use this next time we have one of those creationism/evolution threads when someone asks me why people have morals if we evolved.

You know, he did have a point. And while I suppose he broke up the feel or whatever of the thread, sympathy threads are pretty far from serious anyway (46 1/2 miles, to be precise, or 57 highway miles), and from the evidence the guy was putting himself at excessive risk, anyway. But that's neither here nor there. The point is, I'm not so sure, and since he didn't technically speaking do anything (except the aforementioned statement to Thunder, which was kinda dumb), this thread is here.

This whole thing is stupid. You all know he knew that he would get spanked, why? Because he likes it. Stop pretending to stick up for him or knock him. He knew he would start **** by saying what he said, and that's precisely why he said it.

And to the lot of you whodidn't like what he said, how are you supposed to honestly react to a sympathy thread if you don't even know the person's good qualities or even who they are? 1) Respect people in the Forums, even if you don't know them...
2) If you don't like a topic on the forum don't reply to it...
3) Were here to help each other to a better future for Space Sims, especially Freespace2's future...and among other things were here because of a tradition..'Bringing Modders Together'

It's one thing not to like that sort of thread but Anon didn't even try to state why he didn't like that sort of thread. He simply posted deliberately inflamatory responses.

When Kalfireth told him that if he posted anything other than an apology on that thread he would get banned he kept on going. Obviously he either wanted to get banned or was too stupid to realise what would happen. Neither of which make me at all sorry to see the back of him for a week.

Whilst I do agree with the concept of the "big picture" that an0n was peddling, because those are my own views on life, he didn't express those views in a particularly considerate way.

Just because you can see the bigger picture, which isn't all that uncommon a thing, that doesn't mean you can use it as an excuse for a lack of compassion and while I am aware it's just an internet forum, you don't have to be a prick  to get your message across.

It's a case of "if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" in that situation, which is why I didn't reply to anything in that thread.

Honestly guys - it's not even been a week and you think he's gone permenantly. The kid just needs a little time out from the community, it might result in him thinking a bit before he opens his mouth (so to speak) in future. So he said something, it was insensitive - these things happen and he was given the oppertunity to check himself, instead he decided to insult me (which is actually not why he was banned - I don't really take that kind of thing to heart anymore, this is the internet after all). But since he doesn't want to show a little sense when playing with others, he can take a break from that. And indeed - others have put forth equally good arguements for why he deserved it - I'm not going to repeat them.
