Finally got my hands on the album a few days ago. What'd everybody think, of the album in general or the Song in particular if that's all you've heard?

Personally, I as kind of dissappointed at first listening, then I went over it again and it started to grow on me. Now I love it, hasn't been out of the stereo except when it's in my CD drive :D.

BTW, if you don't like Metallica for whatever reason, go start your own thread. I'd rather have opinions than mindless flaming.

Boo Metal-licka!
Yea for Alcohollica!

I haven't liked anything since the Black Alblum.  I picked up St. Anger in hopes of a return, but it seems to me that they just can't do it any more.

I picked it up a few days ago also, sweet CD.
It stays in my CD drive except when I'm playing some Bach music:nervous:

St Anger does nothing for me at all.  What does it do thats new and different?  It just sounds like the same old metal clichés I'm so sick of hearing. Metallica are trying to make a come back by sounding like every metal band thats round now.  And it sucks.
I'm glad St Anger isnt on many radio play-lists, when it comes on the Tv i change the channel.
Its the same old smokescreen of depression and angst covering the lack of any real depth in a message.  Its not even good to listen to.  Its just an image, a fashion, subtly aimed the segment of loosers the record companies can't market anything decent too.

This music should have died in the early 90's.

"Your cynicism appauls me Collosus - I have ten thousand officers and crew willing to die for pants !"

Love Metallica. Hate the CD as far as metallica goes.

Pretty much what Beatspete said. The cd is just ****e. Every ****ing song sound exactly the same. The cd itself just doesn't sound like metallica at all, and instead a clique crappy up-incomming bands' demo.  And don't get me started on the ****ty drums with the metallic twang on every ****ing song. And I couldn't find one guitar solo in the entire cd. The speed pissed me off. It was all the same tone, same speed throughout the entire cd. It'd be like listening to an entire album that sounded just like Fuel or Master of Puppets, over, and over, and over (the feel, not the actual songs. the songs rock, but they are really fast) and s whole album of fast tracks that suck doesn't do much for it.

I hate it when Great Bands try to 're-invent' themselves and just **** everything up. They had a great sound and I guess somewhere along the line they thought people would like something more 'new' sounding :doubt: .

I think they ****ed up this one, and although I kinda liked a few songs on the cd (st. anger. and like track 6 or 7) I really hope they try harder and do better next time.

[color=66ff00]I was impressed enough by Load to go see them when they came to Ireland, unfortunately a band that I'd just heard of was backing them. That band was corrosion of conformity and they totally blew metallica off the stage.

Reload was a really clever name IMHO as it perfectly described the album 'a clone of load'. I reallllly don't care one bit about the new album.
I'm still jaded by the whole napster thing in any case, music sharing got those twats famous.

Which band are you referring to here?
Metallica was pretty damned famous long before Napster.

[color=66ff00]Brief history of metallica's rise to fame:
1. metallica make tapes in garage,
2. someone gets tapes, copies, gives to friends
3. step 2 is repeated a lot
4. record company gets wind of this
5. metallica get rich as result of record deal.

I love it.  It was so nice and raw, it feels almost like a live album.  As far as I'm concerned, definately a keeper.  Its also not the best album ever, but, hey, its Metalli-F'in-ca!  I just feel really sorry for any one who bought it off listening to Load/Re-load.  Anyway, only 5 more days until the day of Metal, when Summer Sanitarium rolls into Toronto, and I'll be listening to those sweet sounds that just make you want kick-arse!

Don't be :hopping:  be Rockin'!
