Quick boys (and girls) I need some kind of public / cheap transportation that:

Is dirt cheap
Goes from one city to another
Can get to some kind of airport

Yes, I know this sounds odd, but right now, I'm having trouble finding a way to get my girlfriend to an airport to come and visit me next month.  Her family only has one car, so she can't drive it, and even if she could, it's not very reliable right now, and isn't comfortable taking it out of her city.  She's real low on cash, and can't fix it or anything like that, so..  Help.  Please?  I'll give you cookies.

I don't know.  ><;  The airport in question is Birmingham International Airport, in Birmingham Alabama.  I don't know how much it would cost even if they had a shuttling service like that.

Trains rock. There's no driving at all, you can just sit back and relax, read a book or whatever. It's also much more spacious than an airplane. Tell her to look at Amtrak or whatever tickets.

trains cost almost as much as airplanes and are much slower.  nothing is cheaper than greyhound  if you have the time

and you'll probably get to an airport.

anyway, try public transportation, or see if the airport as some kind of service. or try and gfet a ride from a friend.

well, in my city all you hav to do is walk to the neares metrolink station, wich in my case is a semimanagable 2 miles, no clue as to what sort of system like things you're city has

You can always try Zen navigation - just pick a car that looks like it knows where it's going, and follow it. You may not neccessarily end up where you wanted to be, but you quite often end up somewhere useful and/or interesting

If you're really short on cash, get a cab and then run away when its pay time. If you run into a crowded area, he probably won't bother chasing after you. I'm not kidding, if you can live with your conscience, you are likely to get away with it.

What we have here is a train system that goes from one end of town to the other (well not one town, like a region).  They almost never check tickets, so I've gotten away with not paying quite a few times. If you have something similar, consider taking your chances.

Other than that, something like Greyhound or along those lines

what country do you live in? here, trains are as cheap as it can reasonably be ( plus usually I have 50% discount, but right now, I have free tickets coz I'm searching for a job - isn't France cool, after all? )

No... I don't mean to offend the French (and you), but learn to speak English damnit. I happen to speak French but the rest of my family besides my parents don't. Cullman (where she lives) doesn't have a rail system, and even if it did, a train isn't exactly practical for getting a city only 60 or so miles away.  Oo;;  Hitchhiking..eh..I'd do it, but she wouldn't go for it, and she definately wouldn't ditch a cab driver.  <<;;  So..yeah..running low on options and I'm becoming quite upset..  This is something we've been planning for months, and now it looks like it's all going to **** just when I'm ready to buy her ticket..  *sighs*  Life sucks sometimes.  ><;
