WHAT THE HELL DO I WRONG ??


thats the pic in 256 colors 8bit convertet with bright


and thats the same pic in-game that looking CRAPPY what the hell do the fs2 engine wrong in PSP8 looks the pic in 256 colors fine but in game look it very crappy ??

The lower picture definitely looks a lot worse. Most likely, it's 'cause you're running FS2 in 16-bit. remember that 256 colors are from 16.7 million colors, so while you can't display more than 256 different colors, they have more granularity than 16-bit colors (8 bits per channel vs. 5 or 6 bits per channel). If you run FS2 in 32-bit, though, it should be fine. I'm betting the reason KT can't see a difference between the images is that his desktop is running at 16 bits, so even the good image is squashed down in color accuracy.

Free Terran. My aim here is not to give you crap or run you down or whatever. Just let me get that out in the open first off.

Now - what the hell are you complaining about?What you have here is not a "****ing Graphics Problem!". Clipping, transparency and such are "****ing big problems". This is what's known as a "minor irritant". If this is the biggest problem you're going to have with your campaign, you should count yourself lucky. If it's really pissing you off, shrink the sun and shift it to the left. Boom. Problem solved, no need to tie up coders.

I too have run into this, but like they said, its no big deal.  More important is background rendering in-mission, theres some serious skewing going on, even at 3 x 3 divisions.

Yeah but i have told vilkacis that he make a render without the sun in the image and one with a smaller

i have had problems with this too. when i have an image set to  256 colors in photoshop, it looks fine, but then it looks crappy in FS2. this made me think that FS2 had it's own color palette, and i was trying to find it, but i couldn't, and then you guys come along and say that as long as it has 256 colors it'll look right, but it doesn't! i've tried playing it in 32-bit, but it goes so incredibly slow, and i don't know if it helps.

erm, isn't that like the 3rd or 4th choose pilot screen your mod has been using FT? :p

Ok....I had a very serious look at it...and to be honest I think you are making a mountain out of a mole hill.  I did a couple of tests in Photoshop to really show me the differences between the two and there aren't many at all.  Infact, what it looks like is happening (theory only) is that the game is rasterizing for everything on the screen.  Someone can torpedo that theory if they so choose.

But at the moment, its not a huge difference and it probably shows good reason why FS2 didn't have fancier backgrounds.
