First (finished) attempt at a Vasudan ship
(no name yet, i'm considering the GVF Ramses)

The textures need a bit of detail added IMO, I've also since recoloured the light blue exhaust 'pipes' to be a sort of brownish - yellow - more in keeping with the rest of ths ship.

Any suggestions on how to improve it are welcome... (I was possibly going to enter this into the model contest once I've improved the maps a bit.  Or I might just enter it as it is... not sure)

(stats)
8 primaries, 2 secondary banks, comparable to Erinyes (equivalent class).

Dimensions - 20-13-20 (width-length-height)

renders

Note:  forgot to turn on smoothing in 3dex for these renders, although the model is smoothed in FS

In game

If someone would do the interface art for me, I could probably releas it now.

Nice work! Unfortunately, I think that you might have to fight with the PVep Rameses, the Vasudan escape pod from FS1. That never got used.

Nice quality, but... confusing-looking design. Too many pointy bits going every which way. Kinda looks like a transformer stuck half-way.

For the massive amount of surface area on this model, there's practically no internal volume.

Looks great!!

As for a name, may I suggest the GVF Qaneth?

It may not be a real Egyptian god name, but at least it sounds like one, eh?

I don't deny that. I just assert that it's an illogical design (which, from above, looks more Shadow than Vasudan).

I also assume it's remote-controlled, since the engine clearly occupies the cockpit.

The more I look at it, the more I want it. I'd love to play about with this thing for an Iwar2 Storm Petrel replacement.

I can just see the trailing pylons flexing in and out in response to the boosters firing...

Um... Can we have larger renders for wallpaper? Hell, Setekh! Can you render a tech report on this pretty please? I'll buy you some Haight's truffles?

Very nice! Kind of reminds me of the Bakha, but also has the "Shivan" style of the Sekhmet.

I think it's from a concept I did during a Professional Issues lecture, of all things.... no idea where the actual design comes from....it is suppossed to look odd though (alien, heehee   )

and there is pilot space I think, because the pilot can stand more or less upright in the cockpit (bit like a Starfury in that way - all the subsystems are grouped in the 'arms', which kind of protect the engine.

It's about 700 polys (LOD0), which is a bit highg... unfortunately, one of the textures seems to have become doublesided, so I can't boolean weld it in TS5.  So LOD1 is the untriangulated LOD1, and LOD2 was collapsed in 3d Max, and does look a bit odd in modelview (but not long range, thank god).

but it was a nightmare to UV Map, and some of it is a bit buggy (nothing major you can really see if you didn't make it though - just 1 or 2 planes).
