Allow me to make my contribution to the art :)

Yep, City of Light - rebadged and all that gubbins. Not anywhere near done, but the graphics are apparent enough here.

Thoughts? ;7

It's missing something. Hmmm...

I suggest with most sites nowadays to limit the width - set it, actually - to an 800-pixel wide display. Otherwise, what would be a nice paragraph becoems what you have here - long single lines of text.

It's also easier on both the designer and the eyes to have a limited-width site + design.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

That's what I was going for, it's going to have a lot of renders and stuff on there, so I wanted load times at a minimum.

And thanks!

I like

However, it seems a bit sparse. Aswell, the text doesnt fit in too well with the theme (the title text).Very solid start, the final product should look very nice.

If you want it to be compatible with 800x600, the width can't be over 760 pixels I think.

the navigation on the left is simple... i like it, but don't you think you could perhaps go with something new?  like rollover javascript buttons even? :ick

you're making use of CSS, right :)

Oh yeah, The Atom Foundation, eh? Hmm.... to make the rest of the page fit with that, you should have the text at most 1 pixel high. :D

I will be (and have since version 2 of this kind of websites.. this is version 5).

Glad people like it, but I'm happy for suggestions... I want to keep it simple, I'm making it not just for me this time but for my friends as well so that they can send me stuff and see it put up etc (at least that's the plan). I wanted to keep it simple for those very reasons. Any suggestions on that?
