Which one doesn't?

Anyway, 98 never freezes on installing or startup.

Yep me too. It used to freeze up if I attempted to install it when I had more than one hard drive connected every time I tried it.

I have never seen either of them freeze on installation. Maybe there's just something wrong with your computer. :p
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

I had it happen with two different machines. They both worked fine with ME and XP (well I've only tried XP with one of them).

XP is still windows (has all kinds of problems) but it's infinitely better than 98 and Me. I've probably seen the ScanDisk screen 2 or 3 times since I've upgraded to XP, and I saw it every other day with Me.

I had something similar happen to me, it started counting down from 99999999 at a phenomenal speed. I thought it was going to explode or something.
