The Creation Education section is particularly good.  I almost pissed myself laughing at some of them.

That said, that site is scary, not funny. There's something disturbing about someone who makes a point of getting angry over something like triclavianism. I really believe, in the page where in the web author decries triclavianism, he makes up several new words. I could be wrong but 'historicity' is not exactly a realistic linguistic construction. :(

Well, did I not say that I could be wrong? I think I did, yes.

It's still a deeply scary web site[1].

[1] I fell I should point out that I am NOT laying critique on the religion the website espouses, but in the fanatical way in which it espouses it. The content of the site could espouse anything at all. The fantatacism would scare me no matter what the subject was.[/size]

The funniest part of it is that he really means it!.

The bespectacled fundamentalist gets on my nerves, this I will admit, Christianity is supposed to preach tolerance understanding and humilty, not accusation, judgement and arrogance :( I'm not a devout anything, but it still scares me a little when I see things like this. To be utterly blunt about it, it is fundamentalism of exactly the same type, in the Persona of Bin Laden, which has led to so much suffering and loss already. Why do these people never get the plot??

Sorry, I won't write more, I have nothing against those with Faith, but I always find the louder you shout your God's name, the more you are trying to drown out the little questions in your head.

Fanatacism is not scary when it's not attached to fundamentalism.

After all, we're all Fanatics about FS and FS2.  Why else would we still obsess over a five year old game.
So as through a glass, and darkly

http://objective.jesussave.us/moon.html - this just about explains it:

"However, in 1969, Apollo astronauts placed seismic devices on the moon's surface to measure the reverberations directly. These devices recorded the impacts of meteorites as expected, but they also picked up a strange, persistent, low-frequency waveform. When the waveform was run through audio processing computers which sped it up and applied various filters to it, it was discovered to be an echoing voice. The voice was speaking in ancient Aramaic!"

~cough~ Yeah, a many-many-millenia old iron core is still shouting at us. Listen to the moon, people. Y'know, with enough filters anything could be made into a language that very few people will recognise.

Fantacism is almost always scary: it leaves no room for compromise. I don't know about you, but I don't come here because I'm particularly fond of Freespace. I came here for Iwar2 and stayed for Steak and Venom and Narol and Darkage and the other groovy people. I haven't playe Freespace in so long that I dont' know where my CDs are.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

J.C. Penny - The J.C. makes us think of Jesus Christ, thus associating our Lord with the lowest monetary value, the penny (even Judas valued Him at 30 pieces of silver!).

Sears - What the flesh of the damned does in Hell. It also sounds like "seers", Pagan mystics who engaged in occult premonitions.

Cinnabon - Sounds like "Sin Upon".

Flipside, I think you can add paranoia to the list. Next thing you know, they'll say that we should boycott Dues Ex just because the main character's name just so happens to start with a "J.C."
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

Ditto - well, kinda. I returned not just because it's my job, but because I love the people here - FS itself is secondary. That said, the people are virtually all initially brought by this secondary interest, so it can't be that bad. The rise of the SCP has brought about our biggest surge in new members for quite some time.
