And IPAndrews:  Brazil, what was that movie about?  i've heard a lot about it

To all you Zoolander bashers (KT and Stealth), it's simply a movie that grows on you. I didn't like it all that much the first time around, but the more I saw it (been around 4-5 times now), the more I appreciate the genius of it.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

1.) Memento- A phenominal piece of filmmaking.
2.) Star Wars original trilogy- before Lucas f***ed it up.
3.) The Nightmare Before Christmas- best soundtrack, concept, artistic style, animation, etc.

Most of the Tim Burton films would make my top 10. :)

Yeah Momento was very cool. I just love the bit where he's supposed to be waiting for someone but forgets and gets caught taking a shower instead :D

Is Solaris any good?

It’s a tragic love story, very heavy on emotion and philosophy. Focusing on just four complex and screwed up main characters. Done quietly with no action and lots of flashbacks. Most people will hate it. I loved it. So did my girlfriend actually. I haven’t seen the original.

What was Brazil about?

Jonathan Pryce is an office worker in a 1984esque future who likes to avoid trouble by keeping his head down. He falls in love with factory worker Kim Greist and a fly falls into a fax machine. Suddenly his life starts to spiral out of control and eventually fall apart.

Well, if you had watched the original, you'd know, that the remake basically ****ed up every point Stanislaw Lem wanted to make.

In short: watch Tarkovski's version. Now THAT'S good.

Yes I plan on watching the original some time. It sounds like a very different film. I don't expect to enjoy it as much. I hope I'm wrong though.

That's piqued my interest enough. I'll go rent it. :)
