You must have chaos within you to give birth to a dancing star.- Nietzsche

When in despair I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won; there have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall.- Mahatma Gandhi

The general rule of thumb is that the original work is better than anything it spawns - if it's a movie based on a book, the book is better. And if it's a novelization of a movie, then the movie's better.

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

:D
1. Return of the Jedi
2. The Empire Strikes Back
3. A New Hope (Star Wars)

Seriously now,
1. The Princess Bride (I'm surprised that others here have seen it)
2. The Matrix
3. LotR: Fellowship

^^ I didn't think too long or hard about this, some of my other favorite movies are: Minority Report, The Sting, Ocean's Eleven (new version), Star Trek: First Contact, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Patton, the other matrix and LotR movies.

Now I'll do the follow-up quotes to that:
Quote
Inigo Montoya: "Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father: prepare to die. Now, offer me money. "
Count Rugen: "Yes."
Inigo Montoya: "Power too. Promise me that."
Count Rugen: "All that I have and more. Please... "
Inigo Montoya: "Offer me everything I ask for."
Count Rugen: "Any thing you want."
Inigo Montoya: "I want my father back, you son of *****."

"Are you sure there is no one following us?" "I told you already that would be totally and completely inconceivable. Out of curiosity why do you ask?" "I just looked behind us and happened to notice we are being followed."

Inigo: I hope Vizzini doesn't mean any harm
Fezzik: He seems a little short on charm.
Inigo: Fezzik, are there rocks ahead?
Fezzik: If there are, we all be dead!
Vizzini: No more rhymes, now I mean it!
Fezzik: Anybody want a peanut?
Vizzini: Yells

Prince Humperdinck: Surrender!
Westley: You mean you wish to surrender to me? Very well, I accept.

Westley: There's a shortage of perfect breasts in this world. It would be a pity to damage yours.

Inigo Montoya:  I could give you my word as a Spaniard.
Westley: No good. I've known too many Spaniards.

That movie has so many great quotes. :)
