Future/Current occupations
I've been thinking a lot about my future lately (as far as my education and occupation will be), so i'm curious as to what you all are at the moment (i.e. High school student, college student majoring in electrical engineering, etc.) and what your plans (realistically) are for the future.

Here's mine:

I'm currently in high-school and college (weird isn't it).  but i'm (well, i have my first classes to get out of the way in college first, such as english, history, etc.) (going to be) majoring in either Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or some IT/Network administration job... i haven't decided yet, and my time's fast running out... though i'll be Cisco CCNA Certified by the end of next semester.  i've also been thinking maybe in the design field (for cars, microprocessors, and/or other computer parts and designs... you know... like lab situation(s)).  otherwise i don't know... i enjoy working with computers, but i'm sure i'd get bored working, for example, with hardware my whole life, or just networking my whole life, so i'm trying to find a field that requires multiple skills...

How about you guys?

College architecture student.

Covers all the disciplines: mathematics, arts, history, language, science, you name it. Extremely difficult and time-consuming but well worth the effort if you can handle it. :)

Jobs, I really don't know. But there's always building going on.

And as for the work... well, I have studio for 11 hours a week, and that's just for reviews. All the actual WORK on the projects goes on outside of studio. It's really intense, grueling work, but it's actually lots of fun despite the stress, and I'd really rather spend 20 hours on a weekend building a model than crunching numbers or writing essays. Ask around the schools in your area.

As I said before (a year or two ago) I plan to be a corporate freak (and take over the world). :D

Seriously speaking, I want to major in mathematics, computer science or physics. I'm thinking being a professor would be a nice job. I'm leaning toward a math major right now, which'll take fewer courses (than the other majors) for me as I'll most likely be taking the local uni's math courses next year (sophomore year).

I'm at Glasgow University, just started first year of Aerospace Engineering. Dont have many plans for what I'll do afterwards - theres a lot I could do.  But its a five year course, so plenty of time to think.

Currently I'm just an 8th grader...Planning on TRYING to get into West Point then joining the US Marines (maybe airforce, but you never know.:D )

Course it's probably too early for me to be thinking about my future except getting grades that'll look good on my college resume.

Doing A-levels for the second time (grades the first time round were a bit crap) at the local college. I aim to go to university, probably to do a Computer Science degree, then get a decent job for a few years. This is to get enough money to get my PPL, so I can train as a commercial pilot, which is my long-term goal.

However, I have a horrible suspicion I'm going to end up in politics....

High School, Junior year.  Currently studying basic IT courses at a vocational school half the day.  I love the school system, normally i'd have to pay mucho denero for the class, but if i stay in school its free.

There is a large company putting in a large scale wireless WAN in my neck of the woods and they just hired someone out of my class.  Hopefully, if I can get more money I can have A+ and Net+ under my belt and then i'll try for CNE or MCSE.  Somewhere along the line there i'd like to get hired by said company.

Yeah, i actually did some work for the district (at $8.00 an hour) a few weeks ago... going from school to school (there's 30,000+ computers in the district, and hundreds of switches) doing various things on computers from installing operating systems, to building them, to getting rid of the many viruses on them ;)  it's good experience, and while i didn't erally learn anything, it's good for my resume

Well, I'm currently working on a Bachelor's of Science in Applied Technology with a focus in Information Technology.  There are as many management classes as there are Technology classes.

My advisor has stated that they espect graduates of this program to go on and become IT Managers or Network Administrators.

I don't work well with others however and eventually want to open my own small computer service store.

currenthly, doing high school/college/secondary school, or whatever you can compare it to in your local system

for the dutch, i'm in fourth grade Gymnasium.

FYI, Gymnasium is the heaviest education you can get at this age, it includes Latin, and the way i picked my subjects physics, chemistry, general sciences, biology, history, and lot's of other "fun" stuff.

for the future, there are a few ways i might go, always something wiith physics and chemistry, perhaps a hint of biology. then, i might go for research, i might go teaching, or i might do something as a journalist, the last seems my favourite option.

i would NEVER oick anything like SysOp as a job, computers are a fun hobby, but i'd go mad if i would be forced to use them 24/7.
