Not much attention? Have you been watching the news lately? Or have you visited news sites? Its all over the place. In 2004 or 2005 they want to have a man on the moon.

well, i only have time to read the papers, and then only the not so high quality "eindhovens dagblad". but i'd expect some live TV stuff right now.

and the only news site i visit are because of links on forums.

Now we just need another country to do the same. Space Race 2.

Mexico gets my vote, or India.

EDIT: Now why hasn't this post registered on the forum?

They'll catch up with the other big communist state in another 30 years and hopefully break up. ;)

tee hee hee. :D

Yeah, this is cool. Any space exploration is a great achievement for humanity in my book; screw the politics. I'd rather they be launching astronauts than testing nukes, anyway.

Agreed, and although it seems like the wrong way to go about it (we - humanity - should be doing it for science and exploration, not power) but if the other big powers in the world (US, Russia, etc.) see other countries getting on with things like this - they'll get worried and increase their own programs. Progress will be made one way or the other - it just takes someone to keep the pressure on.

It would be nice if China could pull something like a moon landing in 2004 or 2005
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

No way.  Sorry, they don't have the rocket.  It took us nearly 8 years at one quick step to get there.  When I see them pull out the Saturn V, then I'll believe.

Lets face it the first most of the public heard of this is when they announced that they had put a man up there. Who knows that they don't already have bigger rockets halfway completed?
