ARG! BASTARDS! Someone Poisoned my dog!!
There's too much emphasis on bloody political correctness and 'human rights' nowadays.  The courts are afraid to dish out a REAL punishment to the criminal in case they hurt them.

Example:  This business with Tony Martin over here in Britain.  Poor guy lives alone in a farmhouse, and a bunch of teenage kids decide to break in.  Mr Martin hears noises downstairs and, not surprisingly, is a bit worried.  What would you do?  I'd do what he did: grab a gun and squeeze of a warning shot.  OK, so it was dark and he hit (and killed) one of the little bastards, but if they hadn't been there (illegally, I remind you) they wouldn't have got hurt.
Despite the fact that Mr Martin had requested police assistance and protection several times previously (his dog had been killed a few weeks ago by person or persons unknown) the police force didn't seem remotely concerned.  Until they hear that he's shot someone.
Whereupon, the guy who acted only to defend himself and his property is now slung into jail because he had the misfortune to actually kill one of the buggers who intended to rob him.
Over in this country, the law protects those who break it... Is it just me, or is this entirely wrong?  The problem can be solved by passing a new law that states: 'Criminals do not have human rights and cannot expect the law to protect them'.  Of course, for this to apply someone would have to be guilty beyond all doubt to prevent any unfortunate miscarriages of justice.  You might say that the law shouldn't protect Mr Martin, because he killed someone, but that 'someone' (or rather more accurately, 'something') had already broken the law when he broke Tony's window and entered illegally.  Hence, the law does not protect the target and justice is served up by a spray of lead shot.  And good riddance.
A little while ago, the court decided not to release Mr Martin from jail because, and I quote, 'he posed a danger to burglars'.  W...T...F DOES THAT MEAN?!?!  Bloody English justice system.

To summarise, if the police can't dish out justice to those complete BASTARDS who poisoned your dog, that means that it's up to you.

As for suggestions for punishments, there's this thing they do with a wire waistcoat and a cheesegrater...
Or maybe high voltage?  DC, so it's not fatal, of course.
Or maybe you could dig up all you can find out about the Spanish Inquisition, and do a little 'reconstructive research'...  Try out the Inquisition's methods, one at a time then all at once.

Indeed. If you can't defend your own sodding property, what the hell are you meant to do? Stand idly by telling them where the valuables are kept?

My advice......
Bury your dog, pay your respects first and foremost.

Then hunt them down.....but don't hurt them....physically.
Stalk them- tell them you have evidence to get them thrown into jail, mentally torture them- its supposedly more pleasing and rewarding than simply just hurting them.

Killing animals without a damn good reason (and by a good reason I mean is it a threath or it is suffering or you need to survive some how) is just like killing a human being without a damn good reason, and such acts are pure barbarism in my books. We're supposed to be advancing past our instincts if i remember correctly, not repeating our past mistakes.

[qoute]
because they're just like the rest of the sick, sadistic teenagers in the world...
[/qoute]

I resent that statement- Iam a teenager and yet you dont see me going around and killing dogs. I have better things to do with my time, and frankly speaking I don't have the desire to do it (have a dog of my own- left him in India when i came down here for my National Service :()

Singh, I think you misread the emphasis on that statement.  I think he meant that they're 'just like the rest of that minority of teenagers who are sick and sadistic'.

I myself am only 18 (technically a 'teenager') and I don't even turn the gore level in games above 'normal'.  In fact I often turn it down.
Admittedly, so I can aim easier...

But there ARE weirdoes who don't seem to understand that people and creatures besides themselves are living things and have feelings.

It's true, it's nothing to do with age, I worked for the Police for 2 years and, although most of the loudest problems were teenagers, the really horrible stuff was done by adults, often to other adults, often who they had known for years :(

New EU legislation states that all items that are of value to a burglar MUST be kept on the front lawn to allow easy access.

what about us without front lawns? or lawns in general.

Though of course, you have to make sure the lawn is clear of twigs, leaves and any other items that may cause your burglar to trip or slip and sprain their ankle :/

In the past 3 weeks in the UK there've been tons of animal cruelty stories, the most notable of which are: An adult dog was tied to a 12kg weight and thrown into a river; Some little ****s went into an animal shelter and executed tons of rabbits, horses and cats for target practice then set 2 cats on fire; And some ****ers taped a baby gerbil to a firework and launched it.

Kazan, you have my full blessing to take a ****ing axe to them. If you plead diminished responsibility you might even get off with it.

Seriously. Just follow them around on a dark knight, wait till they're alone, then jump 'em and beat them both half to death and (most importantly) blind them.

If someone even tried to poison one of my dogs, the little ****s wouldn't even know what was happening to them till they'd already lost a ****ing limb.

You know what? For once I agree. Generally I don't like violence - it doesn't solve much for me. But the kind of people you describe above deserve worse. Heck if I had it my way the deliberate killing of any animal would equate to the murder of a human being. Failing that the axe plan works just fine.

can't say i agree with most of you... do something "violent" back and you're the one that will get taken to court.

i say take them out legally.  "take matters into your own hands", and in the society we live in you'll be the one that's screwed in the end

I wouldn't go that far. I love Hamburgers, bacon and fried chicken far too much for that.

What annoys me is the senseless killing of animals. If you kill an animal for food then it's fine. If you kill someone's dog just because you think it's fun you really need to be locked up for the safety of the general public (amongst other reasons).
I wouldn't say it's equal with the murder of a human being but I would put it on a par with assult of one.

So, say, if you had a pet dog and somebody killed it, then ate its remains, you'd be okay with it?

Hmmm... getting into a theological discussion about whether Dog's souls are worth as much as human souls would probably get this thread closed ;)
I suppose my own views are against a wanton taking of a life, any life. We all tread on insects, this is accidental, though children often do it when they are young for fun, but even this is taking a life, so obviously it has to be kept in perspective :)
Killing for food is ok, killing by accident (as in treading on ants etc) or for survival or safety reasons (pouring boiling water into an Ants nest, or shooting an animal that is attacking you), and putting old sick animals out of pain are all 'unavoidable' situations.
However, the killing of an animal 'for a laugh' or to 'get back at it's owner' is certainly one of the weakest and sickest excuses.

If he killed A dog an ate it I'd have no problem with it. If he killed MY dog and ate I'd gut him like a fish.

The difference being my dog belongs to me. I'm the only person allowed to eat it :D

If I was stuck on an island covered in animals, but no human-digestible plants, I would rather starve to death than touch the animals.
I think I'll leave it at that to explain my views, otherwise I would piss one hell of a lot of people off.

Sorry, yeah I did mean the senseless killing of animals. Or indeed doing it cruely if there is a reason behind it (such as for food). Even animals meant to be food in the end can be killed in a humane and painless way (and ideally should have a trauma free and natural upbringing during their lives - but thats very unlikely :(). But killing animals for fun? **ck that. Lock anyone who does it away.
