There's too much emphasis on bloody political correctness and 'human rights' nowadays. The courts are afraid to dish out a REAL punishment to the criminal in case they hurt them.
Example: This business with Tony Martin over here in Britain. Poor guy lives alone in a farmhouse, and a bunch of teenage kids decide to break in. Mr Martin hears noises downstairs and, not surprisingly, is a bit worried. What would you do? I'd do what he did: grab a gun and squeeze of a warning shot. OK, so it was dark and he hit (and killed) one of the little bastards, but if they hadn't been there (illegally, I remind you) they wouldn't have got hurt.
Despite the fact that Mr Martin had requested police assistance and protection several times previously (his dog had been killed a few weeks ago by person or persons unknown) the police force didn't seem remotely concerned. Until they hear that he's shot someone.
Whereupon, the guy who acted only to defend himself and his property is now slung into jail because he had the misfortune to actually kill one of the buggers who intended to rob him.
Over in this country, the law protects those who break it... Is it just me, or is this entirely wrong? The problem can be solved by passing a new law that states: 'Criminals do not have human rights and cannot expect the law to protect them'. Of course, for this to apply someone would have to be guilty beyond all doubt to prevent any unfortunate miscarriages of justice. You might say that the law shouldn't protect Mr Martin, because he killed someone, but that 'someone' (or rather more accurately, 'something') had already broken the law when he broke Tony's window and entered illegally. Hence, the law does not protect the target and justice is served up by a spray of lead shot. And good riddance.
A little while ago, the court decided not to release Mr Martin from jail because, and I quote, 'he posed a danger to burglars'. W...T...F DOES THAT MEAN?!?! Bloody English justice system.
To summarise, if the police can't dish out justice to those complete BASTARDS who poisoned your dog, that means that it's up to you.
As for suggestions for punishments, there's this thing they do with a wire waistcoat and a cheesegrater...
Or maybe high voltage? DC, so it's not fatal, of course.
Or maybe you could dig up all you can find out about the Spanish Inquisition, and do a little 'reconstructive research'... Try out the Inquisition's methods, one at a time then all at once.
