Since I was disgusted with the other design, I started work on another this morning.  I have no earthly idea what class it is, what fleet it works with, and I don't much care. Its not a terribly 'Freespace' style design. It does have a fighter launch ramp on the front that leads back to a hanger area inside the ship. Its also got a giant recovery bay on the back beneath the engines.

Here's some pics:

Need to smooth out some of the lines of the main hull so that it flows more evenly.Turrets are probably too big, too.

Much better.

Although, it seems like this one should be a cruiser IMO. It just looks small. Probably your turrets like you said.

Would make an excellent Gunboat.

It's a little biased in its firepower isn't it?  What, 3 turrets topside to 8 underneath? It looks like an invasion support ship; like something that would hover over a city providing a launch ramp for fighters and pounding ground targets with heavy firepower.  The turrets are a bit big IMHO, especially for a ship of that size, and top turret #2 has some line-of-fire issues, but it's a cool mesh.  Could we get a couple of shots unturreted to show off the hull?

Holy crap. Its only suppose to have TWO turrets on top. That third one is just kind of floating in space. I must have not been paying attention when I put that up there.

The turrets are big, and can but shrunk down with some effort (mainly involving shrinking the turret bases). I kind of wanted them large though. I don't know why. I might change the upper forward hull and put battleship style turrets there. :D

I like the idea of a planetary assault ship though.

Oh, and LLivingLarge, nice name, but I tend to name my own ships. Thanks anyway. :)

Nonturreted pics coming up.

That is absolutely gorgeous!

One of the most unique designs I've seen in a long time, very well done! Forget the smoothing, leave it boxy, it looks powerful with heavy armour. The only suggestion I would make is to make the turrets smaller, but you are already going to do that.

Very, very nice piece of work! Keep it coming. :D

Does look like a planetary assault ship as the turrets can pound away, and the fighter launch ramp is protected by most of the bottom part of the ship.

I like it.

Niiiiice, but fs2 can't handle that many multipart turrets, i think the limit is at 6

:blah:  Is that so? Well that explains why none of them work on the corvette I'm working on. Nads...

You never told me that, Narol. :D

I'll just have to rework it to have only four on the bottom.

It's higher than most people think.  The most :V: used was 6.  However, the Raynor, as you'll remember Mikhael, has I think 9 or 10 multiparts, and they all worked fine even in standerd FS2.  I'd say lose the one that's pointing into the conning tower, but leave the rest.  Especially if you use it for an assault ship

Oh, and naked model = cool :yes:

Now with smaller, more evenly distributed turrets. Still don't know where I'm going to put beams or AAAF turrets.

Woah, that helped immensely!  Not that it was a bad model to begin with, but it looks even better.  I like the radar dish in place of the bridge-targeting turret, and it's firepower is distributed in a way now that looks like it would make a good warship.
