Ooooh, Europa is kicking ass. Callisto is pretty impressive too, but I think you've lost some of the puffy details on the gas giant. :)

I have already done 32bit glows for them, the warp in/out effect is an ANI - it's limited to 8bit

Yes, yes, to Lightspeed you listen, hrmm? :D

Incidentally, Planet G looks like a pic of Jupiter w/o the red spot. But I'm no astronomy major.

PS: Nice work :D

Wow :)

Shots like that are why I like the Mentu.

One thing though, the red gas giant and blue Volition ones both use modified Venus pictures. It looks like your red one is a good update to the originals, but the blue one just doesn't match up.

I know they're called noise, though.

I just noticed theres some problems with the way FS2 renders the backgrounds. If you create any missions, make sure the planets are put to the background BEFORE the nebulae, else you will have black boxes around them.

I noticed this on a [V] mission, wondered why it looked that crappy. So if you get this bug, simply put the planets to the top of the background list in the background editor and it will look okay.

Hello, im a newbie to these forums, but not to fs2.....
just spent last hour or so browsing thru these forums, you ppl done some amazing stuff here.

downloaded 3.5.5 fs2 open source installed and works fine with launcher. then i found the 32 bit new 3.5.6vp downloaded and installed that.

fs2_open.exe wont let me use the -t32 flag , that the readme356 says to use, comes up with this error :

Error: Unrecogzined command line parameter -32
File:E:\Languages\Visual Studio Projects\Visual C++\fs2_open\code\Cmdline\cmdline.cpp
Line: 540

Call stack:
------------------------------------------------------------------
    kernel32.dll 77e814c7()
------------------------------------------------------------------

if anyone knows how to stop it doing that please let me know...

thanks

Lighty, can I assume you'll bundle these planets in to a ZIP at Miliways when you're finished?

yep, I will. All we'd need now is a coder to force TGA backgrounds to be alpha blended.

Like this it has issues if you put the planets last in the background editor. It could also have problems with skyboxes, although I havent tried that yet.
