It's just the amount of work...... I don't see anything there that can't be done with enough free time - nothing that's technically difficult or above what's being done here already, or has been done. I mean, it's more the lack of ideas than the difficulty of drawing that holds me back at present.
Especially when you bear in mind that he's using specular and bump maps to enhance the effect...
I'm not seeing it isn't quality work or anything - it obviously is - just that it's not as inachievable as people might think. Give me 2 weeks of free time, I'm sure I could come close to that - I could efinately beat the low poly models
