RETURN OF THE KING - Can you wait?
Yeah, this is the usual point in LOTR conversations in which I totally get lost. :D I'm still trying to get thru Silmarillion, so perhaps after I've finished I'll figure it all out. I'm just a psychotic fan of the Book and Films...
I have returned... Again...

They got it so totally wrong. Xerxes shouldn't have died by that spear.

Going to try and watch all three in a row again this weekend... God I'm such a man

RETURN OF THE KING - Can you wait?
I was in Toronto over Christmas and as I'm leaving, the Customs man asks me if I was at the Lord of the Rings Convention™. I dunno, I guess I just look like the type...

He said they watched all three back to back to back too. In costume, no less. :shaking:

I saw a woman dressed as Eowyn on the premiere.

Too bad the woman looked like a horse, was 60 years old, and weighed more than a semi-truck.

Fortunately, she was followed by a babe in a nightgown. She was probably trying to costume like Arwen, but who the hell cares as long as you could see her nipples.

And it made me forget about the horse.

Horse is nice.

*shudders*

I got this wierd deja vu thing......which is somewhat fitting in itself, with the whole french-people-eat-horse thing.

I was actually psychotic enough to get the Simarillion in both book and audio book form. That way, I could read along with Martin Shaw's narration and actually have the Simiarillion make some kind of sense as I read it. I only got as far as the Ainulindale and haven't read anything since. That was maybe a year and a half ago.

Then there was the time I found a course on learning how to speak Elvish. I only got as far as the 4th lesson out of 22.

Do you think not completing things reflects poorly on my personality? :D

Heh. I never personally think of things being quit. They're jsut put on hold. Sometimes, VERY long holds. But as a testament to my way of thinking, I might read a page or so of a book I've been reading over the past 10 years, every year, so that atleast I know that at some point before I die, I've never left something unfinished. :D

So dont worry, things are just on hold! :D

I've got that audiobook. Its bloody brilliant. Martin Shaw does an excellent job. If it weren't for him, wouldn't be able to pronounce Aule, let alone Ainulindule or Illuvatar. It also demonstrates that some things really should be spoken and others read. LOTR is a great read, but a bad listen. The Silmarillion is a bad read and an excellent listen.
[I am not really here. This post is entirely a figment of your imagination.]

Hey, it's got practical use. Some of us have to do business with the Nerd People so they'll program for us and so on, and that's their official language.

Well, that, Klingon, and whatever the hell White Wolf-devised abomination it is that people around here keep trying to start conversations with me in. Any one will probably do.

Wookie is pretty easy to pick up, true, but oddly enough there's no word for "the", which limits conversations quite a bit.
