the green bars are the times your CPU sends the data to the RAM.

Your RAM will accept and work with data at the blue times.

In the upper part the RAM is faster than the CPU, thus the times where it will work on data are closer. The CPU cannot send data faster though, it will have to WAIT for the RAM clock cycle. The red areas represent the wait time.

In the lower picture the RAM is slower, the same speed as the CPU. you'll see that there are NO red times. The CPU can get every packet directly to the RAM, since whenever it is sending, the RAM is recieving.

Now if you look at a certain spot in time, youll notice that in the lower part, although the RAM is slower, you will have MORE packets that made it into your RAM --> You have a better performance :)

clear?

yepp

Ok, i made what you've said, i've clocked my RAM to 266Mhz and my CPU back to 3066 Mhz FSB 533

but there's no Performance increasing!:(  i've benchmarked my Comp and played some Games, theres nothing better so i've set it up to the old settings

oh, and the "Performance" of NFS Underground and Armada2 was decreased and not increased

means: i leave it as it is

edit: sorry for my crappy english in this thread but in Germany its right now 3:57 AM and i'm really tired

atm:

CPU: 43.5C
Case: 33.5C

Athlon XP 2400+ (2.0Ghz), 266Mhz FSB
non-overclocked

It's a little higher than I'd like, the hot days here still cause it to spike at about 51C but since my brothers machine gets similar temps but is 400Mhz slower, 51 is still in the safe area for Athlons and there's probably no way to get the temps down where I want them without moving to something like watercooling (which I must admit I am considering but the price is a little prohibitive and I'm still a bit iffy about having liquid running around inside my case) I'm prepared to live with it.

But then I have only been on for about 5 minutes. By the end of the day it'll be beyond 60.

Holy cow... 61C on the CPU, 44C in the case. That's at a room temperature of 17.7C.
Something's telling me this first-gen 1.4Ghz Athlon (i.e. not XP) is close to kicking the bucket. Time to underclock, methinks.

Well, it's telling me that the CPU fan is running at 4655 rpm. How much I trust it is another matter.
Underclocked to 1Ghz now, only reduces it to 55C but never mind.

My RAM is out of synch in my desktop and I got a performance INCREASE.

Oh, and my desktop is a 1.7 GHz Celeron and it never gets above 50 C
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

Asus PC Probe :D

and looking in BIOS at bootup is the worst place to look since without an operating system the CPU will have no 'wait' - it will be at 100% all the time. When I wait in my BIOS screen I can watch my CPU temperature go steadily up to 48°C, then I boot up, open PC Probe and it's at 45° dropping back to 38°C in no time.
