Ok. I got MBMeter. It's 21 C inside the case, and the chip is 34 C.  And I've been running it for about 3.5 hours...

oh, and the "Performance" of NFS Underground and Armada2 was decreased and not increased

Are you on a 845PE chipset? If so then you can't dual channel and DDR333 speeds seem about right - I don't think he's on Granite Bay, Lightspeed.

As for me, Dell doesn't give a CPU temperature meter on the boards so that blows... My mom's AthlonXP 2100+ runs at 38 degrees, though.
Long time ago, you see, there was this thing called the VBB and... oh, nevermind.

Something's telling me this first-gen 1.4Ghz Athlon (i.e. not XP) is close to kicking the bucket. Time to underclock, methinks.

Thunderbird Athlons (before AMD added the "XP" epithet) provided great performance, but by god they ran hot

Yeah, I know about the Thunderbird stuff, but I'm pretty sure this isn't a Thunderbird. It's one of its relatives. Probably suffers the same problems though. Never mind, it's been running fine at 60C for a good few years already, no big deal ^_^

yeah baby, 65C for the CPU, and 35C for the case. Of course, 65C is a perfectly reasonable temp for an an AMD 2800, according to the AMD engineer I know.
[I am not really here. This post is entirely a figment of your imagination.]

Whenever I overclock, even slightly, windoze doesn't boot correctly. Maybe something to do with my FSB/memory relationship?

Currently heating up a bowl of chicken soup on it and a while ago I was making some popcorn. It may take longer once I add the vegetables. :D

this comp is at 43C, the one I use at home (by god, I wanna go home) runs a few degrees lower.

the one at home is a lot better, as I would actually be able to play any of the games I've bought, but the only reason it's running that cool is because it's pretty much wide open with the psu outside the case so that air can actually get moved by the cpu fan.

I use my second computer to warm my feet now that it's so cold. Still don't know the temp it's running at though :)

I just added a blower fan to help cool my video/sound/tuner cards, I think the tuner is going to need another one, the blower is focused between the sound and vid cards
