Oh come on. When Napster went tits up every one turned to Kazaa. When Kazaa started charging and generally being gay, everyone turned to K-Lite (or had already). Even if they do somehow wipe out KL, which is impossible, how long do you think it will take for a replacement to spring up?

The irony level of all this is off the charts.

I heard about this a while ago. It only means that Kazaa Lite can't be distributed anymore, not that they're shutting down the existing network. But it will get distributed anyways, thanks to warez sites, Bit Torrent and oh yeah, Kazaa.

And since when does Kazaa charge for their service? I've never heard of that, where is your info comming from DG?

Too bad I don't have Kazaa, I'd like to do a search for Kazaa Lite and see how many hits I get.:D

How so?
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

The way I see it, Kazaa almost solely exists to distribute illegal stuff, like software. Now they're trying to stop somebody putting out an illegal version of theirs.

Solatar: What their software can be used for is irrelevant. They're not liable for it, after all. However, they profit off of Kazaa hence it is in their best interest to keep Klite dead. Normal behavior.

Oh, and bittorrent owns too.

Here. Forgot they were still offering a free version, but then that one's got more adverts and spy-ware in it than actual file-sharing stuff. Not much of a choice.

Bittorrent's only good for up to date files, files like recent anime releases.  But you'll never find old eps on bittorrent.

Yeah, but unless the anime is rather popular it'll be hard to find eps anyway. I just buy the dvds off of ebay for those.

Ahh..the joys of being a packrat...

I believe I will be uploading both the vanilla KLite and the latest version of K++ and linking.

Even old stuff gets re-seeded from time to time. I am perfectly happy with just bittorrent.

**Cough** Usenet **Cough**

I honestly see no reason at all to use a piece of crap like Kazaa, I mean there are way better peer to peer alternatives, WinMX and Soulseek take Kazaa outside and give it a good shoeing and Emule (or any variants on it) is pretty good too.

So whats the best P2P software out there at the moment? And why is it the best? (I don't know why WinMX is better than KazaaLite... enlighten me :))
