Kazaa is the only one I can use coz it's the only one where I'm not forced to share files. Btw, before being flamed, it's not I don't share files coz I don't want to, but because as soon as someone starts downloading anything from my PC, my ubber crappy DSL modem crashes... Trust me I'd rather share my files and have stuff come faster.

Soulseek? I did a google search it pointed me at http://www.slsk.org/ and then attempted to download something to my computer when I clicked on the FAQ. I don't think I trust their comment about it being free of spyware somehow.

Azureus is the best Bittorrent client. I don't need any other P2P software.

people might pay $30 for a better version of KaZaa if they put on that list 'SPYWARE FREE!!! If you pay CyDoor will NOT be installed on your computer!!! Now don't we care?'

Its may be just me, but I have always found Usenet, Gnutella (the the zillion variations thereof), Emule and the various other P2P programs to be too hard to use. I have so far used Direct Connect, Kazaa and Bit Torrent and I have found BT to be the most useful for my purposes. If you know where to look, and by now the community is so big that you should, then you will have no trouble finding the things you need.

What do I care if 600 different versions of a movie can be found on Kazaa, when I only need one and I need it to go fast. Thats why i prefer BT.

While we're dicussing clients what's good for Usenet. I like it a lot but XNews is beginning to annoy me cause it's slowly getting more and more unstable.

It's not, content wise. The only thing I've ever been able to find as well on WinMX as I have on Kazaa is music. Everything else seems to fall short.

This is true. And I've tried using LimeWire to surf the Gnutella networks with no real results

Well, say what you want, but I still can't get a result for naruto 65   ( well, that's not true, there's one 1.6 mb file and another one that ended up being a La Bluegirl episode :doubt: )

Just because it exists, doesn't mean it'll be there - if it's rare already there's a small change anyone will look, download and spread it further.

I prefer K++'s system of availability for DL's... emule is so flooded with users that downloading anything takes a year and a day...

[color=66ff00]Weird I get almost all of the kind of stuff I'm looking for; seen Farscape, BSG, SAAB, B5, Batman TAS and a lot of others. I guess it depends on where you get your torrents from. Certain places have the facility to post requests and the torrent community is quite good in that respect.

Bittorrent is the best P2P program that I've used in a long time.

Ok, clarification needed...from what little I read of BT, it requires one to upload at the same speed as you download. In other words, on my 1.5mbit/96kbit (down/up)  ADSL, I'd be limited to a 96kbit download under ideal circumstances?

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

[color=66ff00]No, if you intentionally restrict your bandwidth then your download speed will be reduced. If your scenario was the case then the last downloaders of a torrent would never get the file as there is nobody to upload to.

It's more of a generalised thing, you restrict your upload and you restrict your download, it's not a 1:1 ratio.

Hmmm, not very clear I guess but I can't think of a better way to put it ATM. (I need sleep :) )
