but in The Maw its well over 15 km long with a built in canyon and plenty of ramps for the marines to show off their mad warthog skills with only 1 ground to space aircraft in its rear bay

We've long established that scale is totally whacked in Halo.....I think there needs to be an agreed size for the PoA before I even begin to contemplate mucking about with it.

Err.. no. The Pilar is (by the scale and supposed to be) around 2.2km. But either the scale is way off to the warthog in game, or it goes really, really slow. Hell, I could run 2.2km in 10 minutes.

And it was already established both in the book (The Fall of Reach) and by Cortana in game that that wasn't the only Longsword Fighter, but the only one left

I'm pretty sure you drive 2km twice in the Maw. And isn't it handy that there's this road going directly back to the exact fighterbay with the last fighter in it.
EDIT: despite the Maw weirdness, I'd make the PoA about the size of a Hecate, maybe slightly longer.

Yeah, that was my thought. 3km for the PoA was just ridiculous. The changes of scale were inplausible........major sticking point of Halo.

It's worth noting that the PoA is freking powerful.  Granted Cortana was taking care of things, but the PoA still took out several Covenant capital ships before the damage began to mount.

It had brand-spanking-new systems, and had some of the Best armor/Structural stability of any ship in the Human Fleet, and a New type of MAC gun. And Cortana.
