I just saw this trailer and the movie looks really promsing. And of course the musclemoutain Vin Disl is in this movie.

Yeah, it's the prequel to "Pitch Black."  It's supposed to explain how he got his eyes (how he can see in the dark) and his fall from grace/entry to prison.

I saw the trailer for this in the theatre. At the beginning of the trailer, it looked promising, but after the first 15sec, I was like, "WHAT IS THIS ****E?!" Some of the special effects shots made the ones in Event Horizon look good, and that was the worst movie I've ever seen, bar none.

We all love Event Horizon in this house. Granted it's cheesey and cliched but I'm shallow when it comes to cinema. Also, don't forget that it's (apparently) 'cool' no to like EV. Shows you've got taste in movies, I'm told.

It is? It does?

Bah. I don't like EH on its merits. I don't give a damn about being cool or having taste. The writing was bad, the acting was bad, and the special effects were the worst of all--particularly in scenes where CG objects were shown composited in over live action (think tools spinning in CG). The only redeeming factor of EH is the design of the ship. THAT looked great. Everything else was garbage.

[color=66ff00]I thought event horizon was very cool, independance day was pure eye candy but it was entertaining and that's all I expected from it so I thought it wasgreat in that respect. Armageddon is much the same as ID4 in my book and deep impact was quite good too.

I used to work at the art studio where they made many of the props for The Chronicles of Riddick.  (All I did was sweep floors, clean casting equipment, etc., for a bunch of artists who suffered a deep psychological aversion to putting their own tools away, but I worked there.)  

However, I also know that the people who made The Chronicles of Riddick are rat-bastards who decided to fire the whole shop with one day's notice and move production to a new location, which meant that I also lost my job and had several weeks without an income.

I am, therefore, ambivalent about whether I ever see the movie.

Seriously now, I think I'd probably rate til rental.  I liked Pitch Black, but not enough to have seen it at the theater.  This one looks way over produced.

The Medusa is a bomber? *heh* I didn't know that. I never flew one, only looked at the model. So, lets amend, shall we:

I do not like any bomber in Freespace except he Medusa.

If the Mara turns out to be a bomber, I like it to, but I don't think it is.

How could the Medusa possibly be a fighter? It's got a rear turret, and two HONKIN' HUGE missle pods. Kinda obvious

I only found out that some fighters had turrets when Narol pointed it out. Also, just because a fighter has big ass missile pods doesn't mean its a bomber. Hercs have a pretty decent secondary payload if I remember right. And if we remember other games, like, say Wing Commander Prophecy, there was a fighter with giant drumlike missile pods and it was an interceptor.
