I was reading up on Walt Disney at Rotten.com and came across this:

I'm guessing they thought it'd keep expanding until it was of such a collosal size that it'd be too uneconomical to feed it from the main grid.

Apparently the head-freeze thing is just an urban legend.

And they probably thought that by the time Walt could build a reactor they'd be common-place, what with all those hover-cars and moon-shuttles of the distant future (1990) and their internal nuke-reactors.

In latin america, the Chupacabra is the bomb.  It's their big foot.

Regarding the walt disney thing:  What's the big deal?  The State of Florida saw it as a tourist attraction (they still do, obviously) that would generate huge revenues for the state.  Based on that, an airport would only help in getting the tourists here.  And having Disney build and fund it, would mean less deficit for the state.

The powerplant thing is just like anOn said.
