Raa: Yeah, people don't identify themselves as what they "play as", dude. Outside of the context of the "game" or "roleplay" or whatever you wanna call it, people don't generally sit around talking about being a level 26 mage or what sort of airplane they are.
You know, it's really hard to draw comparisons here, too, because most people don't "play as" **** at all, unless there's some kind of game involved. 'Cause that's really not "playing as" something, it's got a term of it's own, known as "pretending to be something else". And when people identify themselves by what they pretend to be... what does that mean? Say it with me now! That person thinks of themselves as that thing!
And, of course, the attraction to furrydom isn't an intellectual one, say of exploring a new genome or anything. Roleplay a talking dog all you like, you'll never develop the senses or reflexes of a dog (which'd actually be damn cool). So, in the end, the attraction is purely physical, one of appearances. And whether it's overt or not, all attraction to a human form (however modified) is, at its root... sexual.
I guess there's a certain amount of lying to yourself necessary to imagine you're a cartoon animal anyway, but intellectual dishonesty is one of those things best done in moderation, y'know.
an0n: Um, you didn't ban them in the first place? Sheesh, didn't take you for a masochist there, man.
