Ouch.

According to this test, I am a leftist authoritarian, while in reality I am between centrist, liberatarian, and right wing conservative.

Well, I wasn't reffering to my own idealogical measure, but rather to the test's scale. And from the people here, there hasn't been too many that have tested as Conservative, mostly Left or Centrist.

Though ofcourse, such a small and unscientific test is hardly an accurate measure.

Try the one that Petrarch posted. It's a lot better. Interstingly I ended up more liberal and left wing than Ghandi :D

I wonder if it's possible to be far-right, but extremely libertarian.

In reality? No.

In terms of the bull**** political terminology this thing uses? Sure, you just gotta be more of a survivalist than a hippie.

the one Petrarch posted, the questions seem a bit biased, wich I think would make most people come out more libral than they actualy are, but maybe that's just me, or maybe there suposed to be that way, so only people from an extreem would answer in certan ways on some questions.

but none the less, my results come out prety much the same

That's cause you're on the left. In the FAQ they also say people on the far right also complained that the questions were biased in the rights favour. :D I guess it just depends on where you stand :)

If you thought the questions about, for instance racial intolerance, were extreme they explain the reasoning behind that in the FAQ. You can't find out how extreme people are unless you ask extreme questions. Seems like a fair point to me. There has to be a way to tell apart people on the christian right from someone like Torquemada. If you only asked moderate questions their results would be the same! :)

:wtf: Surely that depends a lot on your perspective...

I think that once the conservatives on this board saw that everybody was posting liberal, they decided to refrain because they figured it'd instigate a flame war.  They're probably right. :p

Nevertheless,

no, I thought they sounded biased tward the left. if anything my being on the left would make the questions sound biased tward the right. the questions on racal tolorence I didn't think sounded biased, becase anyone with even a slight racal bias is an moron, I was talking about ones like...
"Military action that defies international law is sometimes justified."
"Those with the ability to pay should have the right to higher standards of medical care."
"What's good for the most successful corporations is always, ultimately, good for all of us." (nothing in particular, just the general tone of it)

but as I said it could just be me, I could just be picking ones out that stick out to me while lots of others I just agree with so much I don't even see.

I don't understand half the economic and political jargon used well enough to answer the questions, having been out of the English-speaking political and economic scene for about 15 years now. ;)

EDIT: I think I should be where Goob is, more or less. Me != liberal. :D

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Like I said. They got just as many letters claiming they were biased to the right. Read their FAQ. It's quite interesting :)

As for the question about Military Action that defies international law. I came out as left wing as they come without being a communist yet still agreed with the comment :)  The bias you see is not as clear cut as you may believe :)

Here's the bit I mean
Quote
Most of them are slanted ! Some right-wingers accuse us of a leftward slant. Some left-wingers accuse us of a rightward slant. But it's important to realise that this isn't a survey, and these aren't questions. They're propositions - an altogether different proposition. To question the logic of individual ones that irritate you is to miss the point. Some propositions are extreme, and some are more moderate. That's how we can show you whether you lean towards extremism or moderation on the Compass.

Some of the propositions are intentionally vague. Their purpose is to trigger buzzwords in the mind of the user, measuring feelings and prejudices rather than detailed opinions on policy.

Incidentally, our test is not another internet personality classification tool. The essence of our site is the model for political analysis. The test is simply a demonstration of it.

Economic Left/Right: -4.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.64

I'm sitting right next to the Dalai Lama. I've been married to this woman for WAY too long. I used to far more centrist.

Your Personal Self-Government Score is 40%.
Your Economic Self-Government Score is 10%.

Left-authoritarians are also called socialists

:nervous:

------

Economic Left/Right: -4.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.03

Left - Libertarian....

Well I guess it kind of evens out a bit...
