I would guess the reason there isn;t a change in the graphics setting is because the texture change isn't in code, it's just in the filesize.  They probably wouldn't want to touch the code unless necesarry.... i'm not sure how much stuff they would remove from the full game code.

Hold on. The game looks pretty ****ing 1337 on my system and runs silky smooth with maximum visual settings. Are you telling me the game itself will look better?
