Hey all, lets say I wanted to remove the recycle bin icon from the desktop (which I do)... how can I do it? It's not in the standard options along with My Computer, My Documents and so on...

You can't... possibly because it's the only shortcut(?)

Or, you could use Litestep

It requires a registration, but it's free, has a much smaller memory footprint than Explorer, and many of it's themes remove the Icons from the desktop.

That said you may want to playwith it first on a secondary machine, as it uses some scripting to arrange everything and sometimes themes don't install themselves correctly.

Doesn't WinXP have a "hide desktop icons" option like Win2k?

Technically, even Win98 can "Hide Icons when viewing Desktop as a webpage."  It's an option for the active desktop.

Ah, Mr. Garibaldi, let be the first to shoot you

:welcome:

Most everyone around here is pretty nice, there's a few notable exceptions.  There are flamethrowers under the seats and a weapons locker up front, unfortunately Shrike's the only one with a key.  Careful around the air vents as Carl likes to wander around in there.  And, if you see a thread about FS3, whatever you do, DON'T ASK WHEN IT"S COMING OUT!  Read Karajorma's FAQ and teh Wiki(if your brave).  Special points of interest include the SCP forum and the Inferno forum.  Again, welcome and happy posting.

haha thanks for the welcome! I've been a HUGE FS fan since the beginning... I def was on the pre-order list for FS, FS-ST, and FS2.  I'm suprised it took me this long to find out about Hard Light!  I just wish I had the time to learn how to mod so I could help the numerous projects running here.  And honestly I consider all of the SCP works to be a virtual F$3, so in that arena, I am satisfied.  Look forward to many future postings!
