It's quite annoying that, I always have to re-read things containing the word 'phonographic' :p

 Someone send this in to PC Magazine, or some other computer magazine with a humor department.  They've had other submissions like this in the past.

Bit rich considering that album sales are up yet again this year. Okay Singles are down but considering all the **** in the charts that's only to be expected.

In my area, you can't find singles anywhere. I don't like to buy albums because I generally only like a few songs here and there (I actually often spend more on singles than I would shelling out for the original album, but at least I get groovy remixes and b-sides). My best chance to find a single is to drive out of state, it seems--or go to a used music store. The RIAA doesn't like them any more than they like MP3s.

Dude. New IPod Minis are TEH WIN. They're based around a $500 (retail) huge CF microdrive. And they're only $249.

That drive in my PDA means I can carry all the pr0n^h^h^h^hmp3s^h^h^h^hReference Material I could ever want. :D

But England is as european as Australia :doubt:
We already had people like the RIAA in France. They still exist, actually, but they can basically do **** now. Then I don't think such a thing would welcomed in Germany. And for the other countries, well, like it or not, but France+Germany are enough to bend or enforce any law on the EU :p

Oh, coincidence! :p
The european law about bootlegs and pirating has just been voted:
http://www.clubic.com/n/n11910.html ( run that through babelfish or something, don't feel like translating ).
Basically, the final version of the law doesn't concern the normal users anymore, just those who gain money from pirating.
Voila :p
( of course, that doesn't make pirating any more legal, but that shows what way we're going in )

You do realise that the British government will try to argue that by downloading the software you are not paying for it, therefore you are making negative loss, which is profit ;)

Agreed. Generally, though, I don't buy music - I just listen to the radio. ;) Unless I'm trying to learn how a song goes on guitar, in which case I buy albums.

I spend a ridiculous amount on albums (for someone with no income).... it probably amounts to 20+ CDs a year (£200+), probably more.  Especially as i almost never just buy the one CD.

Although I actually spend more on CDs when I can download music, than when i can't.
