That's how I felt about System Shock 2, Turnsky.

The first time I turned around to find a corpse swinging from the ceiling... or when I came around a corner face to face with a Rumbler... or the moment when the spiders started swarming... :scared:

Man, that was a great game. :)
[I am not really here. This post is entirely a figment of your imagination.]

Well I prefer Thief to Deus Ex ( the lack of arguments on that thread seems odd, let me start another one :D ), because the mood in Thief is unatched, because Garret is so much cooler than Denton ( and I won't talk about taht excuse for hero that is... mmh... darn can't even remember the name of the Dex 2 main character. So charismatic you can turn him into a her. Says a lot about how his/her personal story is gonna evolve in the game). I also prefer swords to nanobots, but that's beyond the ponit :)
As for the sneaking thing, well, in Thief you do play a thief, not a warrior ;) ACtually, I heard many complains about too much action in thief 1 ( the monster levels, at the end, or the zombie levels ), resulting in those level disappearing about completly in thief2 ( Tho I completed a couple missions w/o hidding myself, now the sherif's house is a bloodbath :p ).
Voila :D

I agree with Nico. In the meansof sneaking Thief is the way to go. Allthough in DE one can also progress by sneaking (like I did) but it's just made better in Thief's. That's all.
Habeeb it...

Whoever mentioned Clive Barker's Undying is correct: have an extra pair of shorts handy when you play. This is the ONLY game I was too scared to finish, because I can't go on any longer...

Ebay, most likely. I'm not sure where my buddy got it but he got it from somewhere. I think it was some game store online... damn I forgot where.... I'll ask him and then give you a link.

Thanks.. I just checked Amazon and it's selling for like 15 beans.

Now that I got this faster computer I wanna see if I can actually play games again.  I don't think I can play really new games yet, though, with my geforce 2.

EDIT:  I just found it on CompUSA website for $8.96.

What are other scary games to get?

If it's for PC then I recommend buying it. If it's burnable, I'd give you a "@&*^#&()@^&)^)#@" CD of it...

I'm sure you can find it on budget for a fiver nowadays.

I'm still confused as to where my friend got it... I don't think they sold it to him because hes underage.

FYI, the guys from the TTLG Forums are going to head up a MOD for, of course, Half Life 2 and re-create System Shock 2, on Earth, with a new storyline and more of System Shock 1 gameplay style. I recommended the engine myself to JediKorichken, since he was heading up The Shock Project. He thought it would be best, and he told me he would have picked it too... especially since the guys over there got to mess around with the HL2 editor...

Considering how long The Shock Project has been (or should it be 'was'? I'm not sure it's still alive) in development (late 2000, if I'm not mistaken), I believe we'll have to wait quite a while to have a Shock mod for Half Life 2. And the idea of 'recreating' Shock 2 seems utterly dumb. Why bother trying to make something that will certainly be worse than the original?

Actually it's more of a System Shock 3. They arent recreating anything, just making a sequal on Earth. As for the Shock Project, it was cancelled not-too-long ago due to the leader going to college, (I know the guy and we talk a lot on AIM, and he deeply regrets any discontinuation) and also the Dark Engine has some major problems with MODing, and you require an inconsistant level editing tool to make levels: 10X harder to learn then the Lithtech DEdit engine for AvP2. Also, a lot of things with designers turning up in fewer numbers, I believe. However, you can download what they HAD worked on for everyone to get. If you stop by the TTGL forums and look around for the Shock Series, I also post there, but go and see in the General Shock Discussion that the project was cancelled.

Very sad indeed...
