Ok, well I'm currently in the last year of a 2 yr diploma in IT Software Development.
Now I seem to be good at coding, and I don't mind it most of the time. However, I also like the creative side of things.
I don't mind a bit of sketching now and then, and I could probably be happier in a Graphics Design kind of thing. Yet I don't think I'm as good in that area at the moment, but truth be told I don't practice much at all.
I also would love to work designing Interactive Media etc, but this seems a more risky option to take first up.
Seeing as my options next year, are to continue on in another uni course in IT, find something else to study, else get a job or be a bum.
Not really wanting the latter options I'm kind of torn between the few ways I could go.
The reason for this thread is to:
1. Get views on other people in these fields and what its like.
2. Take in a few suggestions from others and where they're going.
3. Maybe even help others in a similar situation.
While I kind of enjoy coding etc, and would probably be easier for me to do, I think it would only serve to deteriorate whats remaining of my creativity.
So in summary (for me)
- Software Design ~ Easier, yet less creative.
- Design Artist ~ Harder, yet probably more fun in the long run.
- Another Option ~ I could picture myself as a Bum...

So people, what's your view on career paths and what to do for a living?
