The wounds of WW2, and even (mostly) Vietnam have healed - or at least are certainly less raw. History has made its judgement on these conflicts.
In the case of Iraq, it is still a deep, festering wound - no-one knows how the 'war' will turn out. People are still dying out there, families are still in the midst of their mourning - on both sides. Turning this sort of heated issue into a game is not so much irresponsible, as propaganda. It's preventing people making an honest, fair judgement by trying to put them in a clear, good vs bad situation as the programmers dictate.
And unlike WW2, or vietnam, etc judgements still need to be made and learned from.
