Sooo, then games like Call Of Duty, Counterstrike, Battlefield, etc, don't rock your boat...?

there's only one thing speaking against this type of games...they're based on Real Life™, which raises the question who's got the 'sickest mind', the heads of state, pushing a war down everyones throat, or the game developer offering a way to vent the frustration of thousands of left-behind relatives...

I'd rather have a 1000 games more like this one than the real thing they're based on...

I mean, what are you guys makin a fuzz about with the realthing being much much worse...?

It's absolutely tasteless and an offence to all who got killed there and their relatives.

This should not be done.Period

Actually they don't I prefer sci-fi types like Halo and Half-Life to the realistic ones but that's not my point.  All of those are about wars that are already over. This war is still on-going.

Except that the two aren't connected. Making this game doesn't mean that what happens in Iraq won't continue so lets view this as what it is. A cynical attempt to cash in on the Iraqi war. That's my whole problem with this. The war is still going on and they keep pushing thus crap out of the door in attempt to make some money. How's it going to feel to someone who just lost family in the real war to see this game trivialising it?

How's about this. Why not make a World Trade Center fireman simulator. Your job is to go into the WTC and pull out as many people as you can before the building collapses. Sound like a fair idea to you?

Bleh.
To add some non-political discussion, did anyone else notice that as soon as Games domain got aquired by Yahoo, they have pretty much no reviews, and every game "review" is simply a plug?

I hate 'real life' games anyway, never been able to get into any of the 'Force Ops Zero Delta' type games, and that little 'installment' reminds me why :)

I noticed that too, Gamesdomain used to be pretty good too with witty writers.

By your logic Call of Duty, Medal Of Honor, Battlefield 1942 and many more games are tasteless and offensive to all who got killed.

Even though Call of Duty won best game of the year, its tasteless by your meaning.

If i made a game based on the Palestinians vs Isrealites it would be tasteless too.

Why is one thing good, then the same thing done on a smaller scale bad? Or is it a double standard people have? Only Interplay and EA can do tasteless games, and those struggling or starting developers cant?

I dont get the logic behind bashing this game, unless you bash game of the year and many other games released this year to based on the same type of premise.

Im sure most who spoke against this didnt think before they posted so im willing to overlook and forget the names of people who bashed this game, but hold other similars so highly.

Yeah, but Call of Duty was about WW2, which happened close to 60 yars ago. Besides, it had 3 sides represented, as opposed to just one and that one being heavily biased.

I think it has to do with how long ago the conflict happened. Even Vietnam is some 30 years ago, so its fair game. In 30 years, if someone makes a game about Iraq, no one will take offense..

So you think WTC Fireman Simulator would be okay too then? If you're against that surely you're guilty of the same double standard that you're complaining about here.

As I said before what makes Battlefield okay and this not is the time involved. WWII was 60 years ago. This happened less than a month ago and is still going on.
