When I was in Oman, we caught camel spiders. They're not really spiders, though: they're solifiguds. They've got two more legs, which are actually extended pedipalps.
Bob, the easiest way to catch a wolf spider, at least for me, is to walk up to it, put my hand on the floor in front of it, and let it crawl on.
Golden orb-weavers are, I believe, my state spider. We don't have any around here, but at the nature center, they have a section of a room dedicated to about fifty of them. That whole end of the room is a giant mass of crazy webs, and the spiders themselves are pretty big specimens of the species.
