So that's gonna be rap and R&B music? Thanks but no thanks.
When they make GTA: Wembley 1991, I'll reconsider :p

I'm kinda with Nico, it looks like fun but the theming of this one just doesnt do much for me (assuming it is all hip hop and rap).

I'm not too impressed with the graphics, to be honest.  It looks the same as Vice City, IMO.

And to be even more honest, I really can't see how they can continue this series.  I mean, what else can you do with the game?   I think by now you've played every single type of mission...  Now it's just gonna be a rehash.

Not necessarily.. I mean if they added more features to the game there's scope for missions other than playing taxi, killing or whatever.

That said, the engine does look like it's coming to a close. If they create another one it's going to have to be brand new..

And then Driver 3 is gonna come out and then where will you be?

I say after this GTA, they don't do one til the next playstation version comes out.

Yeah, that's true. The creators have something else in mind instead of trying to make better graphics than those games.
Be glad that there is more stress on gameplay than looking. At least I appreciate those companies, who do not have graphics as their primary priority.

I don't know what screenshots you guys are looking at, but they looks pretty great to me. Far beyond the GTA3 or VC graphics. And not only in terms of poly count or texture resolution, but also atmosphere.

Gotta bear in mind that GTA is a different beast to Doom 3. Doom 3 is all about a dark, scary and overall enclosed atmosphere - GTA 3 is all about big open spaces and sprawling working cities. You couldn't possible render a fully working city in real time using the Doom 3 engine and expect to turn it into a game... even if it does look better.

Even Half Life 2 - while more open aired - is just what you can see. Lots of locked doors and a fairly linear direction. It's a trade off between having one massively detailed set of roads - and an entire working city.

That said.. Halo (as an engine) has a lot of detail in it as well as a large amount of land... as does UT2004. Both are newer engines that GTA3s so I'm sure they could come up with something more impressive with a new engine... of course I'm not sure what new directions they could take - but I imagine just making an entire working city where you can act as a normal citizen might would be a start - then build a crime underground around that.

That rant would actually have some meaning if said doom3 and HL2 were lacking gameplay wise, and if the GTA creators had something else in mind than creating yet another sequel to GTA :doubt:.

A reason why there should be stress on gameplay rather than on graphics. To not to make just another sequel.

Unfortunately nobody (mainstream at least) wants to play a game that looks ugly...
