E3 is not Only games but more....[MA]
Boobs :p

Well in some truth but more to the point, its a show of technology, from mp3 players to joysticks and very importantly boothbabes :D, did I miss games :p. Good E3 content is just as hard to find online than that rare antique so I'm gonna pass a few tips, links and cool images, and some tech that may have passed u..

Firstly two joysticks I came across while browsing the babes pages on Gamers Hell. I'm definitely gonna have to try these out one day.

THQ is definitely taking care of marketing... :)

Poor dudes @ [V], Carl :hopping: get ya Shivan butt out there

Now for some links, not a fav of mine but some content @ ign is good but I would recommend visiting the homepages of the consoles for starters, nintendo, xbox, ps2, and even big game supporters like teamxbox or others which I just couldn't be bothered looking up even though I'm a GC supporter.
Gamespy is all cool, FilePlanet is excellent except for wait times, Gamespot is an outsider to me but proved to have some good material. There are a lot of others but I try to stay away, cause I've got alot of study .

There is also a 4-disc dvd set that will be coming out in June with all the E3 Content you could grab your hands on

I will post anything important later... :D

How much is the new Saitek set?

Anyone heard good or bad about Saitek?  Seems all the sim jocks use are these sticks and throttle controls.  I'm using a MS Sidewinder Precison 2...

I'm using the Saitek Evo and it seems like a great piece of technology. Built for people both left and right handed (my main reason for choosing it, other joystick companies seem to have no idea how much money they're losing by only stocking right handed sticks).

It even autocalibrates itself on the fly...

Saitek = GREAT control, but will be broken in about 2 months of excessive FS2 playing (talking out of experience here).

If you want some more 'durable' fun, go for Logitech.

Methinks you've got it mixed up. Logitech makes great sticks, but the throttle busts in about 2 months, the rudder in 3 or 4, and the stick in about 5.

I've had my Saitek Cyborg 3D Gold for about a year now, and (except for the throttle and one button), survived a full-force throw against the ground from a height of about 5 feet (during a certain family member's temper tantrum). It had survived about 3/4 of the prior year with NO malfunctions at all, until that incident.

For dependability and reliability PLUS immense functionality, your only real choice is CH Products HOTAS gear and Thrustmaster HOTAS gear.

I had my first--FIRST--Thrustmaster gear last me the best part of an entire decade. No special drivers, no OS dependencies. No incompatibility problems. Just solid, hardcore, dependable sim gear. A DECADE. No Saitek, Logitech, Microsoft, or Gravis product ever lasted that long, with that kind of functionality, enduring that many moves, outlived that many computers, or that much play time. A DECADE.

Bah. Why do I bother?

That Saitek X45, my brother's had one (probably not as new, but looks kinda the same) for years and there's still nothing wrong with it. Methinks you got a bad one there, Lighty.

Nope. I'm not mixing up things.

I've had my Saitek for about a year, rarely used it - then I started playing FS2 (a lot, up to 10 hours a day ;7 ), and it was broke after approximately 2-3 months. After that I got my Logitech which still works 100%, after more than two years.

Perhaps you just had some misfortune then - of the joysticks I've owned, the Microsoft Sidewinder lasted the shortest amount of time, the Saitek Cyborg 3D the longest - and the Saitek Evo is still the one I'm using. The Cyborg only broke because I slammed it on a desk... not something I'd expect it to put up with.

All males are genetically programmed to be...talk to anyone who studies behavioral science and they will tell you (the women are just as bad/good) :)

Back on the joystick thing.  I've heard bad things about the Logitech's and there are obvious exceptions, I've also heard bad things about the Sidewinders although my Precision Pro 2 is going on 3 years now (its my first Precision 2...the old Precision I had two of before they broke).  So its like nobody makes a well priced, decent featured, digital/optical sensor, joystick...

Talk to me again when its got damn near a DECADE of daily multihour use. DECADE. That's ten years.

Let's put it this way: when I bought my first Thrustmaster, there were no Pentiums. 16mb was extravagant. 3d accellerators did not exist. Space combat sims used sprites for everything. Amigas were "in". Apple hadn't collapsed. Some HLPers weren't even born yet.

When your Saitek lasts that long, let me know. My experiences with Saitek are somewhat less favorable. That's experiences. Plural. Not one bad one, multiple bad ones in rather rapid succession.

No offence, but that doesn't mean that every Saitek product will be bad. If I buy a McDonalds and get food poisoning that doesn't necessarily mean every meal there will give me food poisoning, just that I got the one that did.

Besides, most people seem content to replace their stick after two or three years good use - simply because it starts to look worn around the edges, even if it is still in perfect working order.

Your word isn't gospel here I'm afraid :)

Unless you're the President of the United States, McDonalds is not MANUFACTURING, its SERVICE. We're talking MANUFACTURING, not service.

If you buy three cars from the same company and they all break down withing fifteen miles of the lot, you stop buying cars from that company. Sure, you might have gotten the only three bad cars they ever produced, but logically: would you ever trust them with your money again? I think not.

If you're content to replace your stick every couple of years, hey, that's your business. That's a complete waste of money though, and I'll tell you so. If you don't like it, well, tough. Don't listen to my opinion. After all, like you said, its not smegging gospel, is it?
