Trouble is - it only needs to reliably work once for you to say it works. For those of us who've had a lifetime of it not working its a lot harder to be content with not trying. Anyone who's loved and lost may know how hollow it feels to have nobody when those around you find love... in light of that it's hard as hell not to try.
